what Stuart has researched and studied is quite right , common known fact amongst older learned folk that the jocks bullied thier way in , just as they would still ride roughshod over the peasants yet , i quite admire this man for his commitment and effort n think its damn disgrace Shetland natives are so blaze about it all

hmmm , reckon uk had no business bein in Falklands in the first place, or new zealand , or india, or ireland, etc etc , or nicking robbing and conning little bits of territory anywhere, it will be either to do wi military or money, same as holding onto Shetland. Well I, for one, am still following Stuart regularly via his website.

Almost 2 years now and no official challenge to his declerations/actions.

To reiterate what some others have said, I entirely support the "cause", as do many, probably most, locals. It is just the way he went about some of his "stunts" that lost him so much public support.

I feel he is finally going about it the right way. Quietly updating his site with items of correspondance, reducing "citizenship" rates to sensible levels for such a project, and offering his research in the form of an ebook
which is an interesting little read for anyone not familiar with what he is on about.

I just hope the next time he makes any kind of headline, it's because he has a legal challenge or similar, and not because he's endangered himself or others with another ill advised idea!

I have no issue with Stuart. Nor did I with the [sic] quote from Hamlet intend to deride him. The issue is in his prior 'stunts', for want of a better turn of phrase, rather than the subject matter at hand.

When I attended the windfarm consultation meeting down here in the sarf, Stu was there. However, somebody said that he was no longer on Forvik and was now living in Sandwick.

Anyone know if this is true?

No longer? He never was 'on' Forvik in any residential sense. More of a summer home arrangement. He's lived in the southern mainland since arriving here, many years ago.

Its a hard winter on Forvik, times are tough!

Word on the street is that Forvik is set to announce the appointment of a new Chief Executive in the immediate future.

Apparently, in return for investing a massive sum into the infrastructure plan for the island, he (or indeed, she) will be granted total control of the dependency. As Forvik is a a tax free realm, it is the ideal location to keep your funds away from the prying grasp of the tax inspector!

Forvik is looking at building a tunnel to the mainland, forming it's own council, building a trans-shipping oil facility to rival Sullom Voe, running a shipping flag of convenience centre, building an airport, basing the Coastguard helicopter and oil support helicopters there and establishing Ro-Ro service to the UK Mainland, Iceland and Greece. It is also considering a pub, Indian and a center for the performing arts/cinema.

With the newly discounted rates (90% off) for citizenship, and NO taxes rate it is hoped that this will appeal to fishermen and fish processors who may be loathe to pay tax on their hard earned pennies, or have the government scrutinise their activities.

Sounds VERY exciting to me!

We could even look at the wave powered floating heat cells to transfer to mainland heat exchangers, at 500,000 tonnes + per vessel, it would take some doing. But well worth it to keep the midge machine runnin.
