FM/AM radios, DAB radios and mobile phone cellar signals all have some piece of equipment meant to boost the signal,
Anyone tested these? what were the results?

Devices like this

850MHz CDMA Cell Phone Signal 3G 4G Repeater Booster Amplifier with Aerial High Grain Signal Extender Kit for Home Office

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lysignal-Outdoor-Directional-Antenna-2700MHz/dp/B01J52RJA2/

Question:
Will this device work to boost an O2 mobile signal to my house?
Answer:
No it will not , it is a useless piece of plastic with some electronics inside with no explanation how to use it

Antenna and signal repeater sold separately

Theoretically one could install one of these devices in the hallway of a house/hotel/office and put the areal on the roof or in a place where the phone can get a signal.

Seems like a second mouse gets the cheese situation with these but has anybody tested anything similar?

Ok, possibly being thick here, but if 4g is the way forward then a) phone signal coverage is going to have improve drastically (and I don't think I am alone here) and also you have to pay for every gigabyte you use and that is not cheap.  Broadband is sporadic here at the best of times but manageable.  Will the distribution and paying for 4g change so it will be affordable to the masses?

Sometimes you can get an unlimited data for a week offer with some EE pay and go sim plans, not sure about what offers Vodafone has right now.

you have to text to opt in if you are eligible worked out £1 daily for unlimited calls, text and data but this offer pops up randomly as part of its loyalty scheme

The signal is too weak to penetrate a lot of buildings so you need to go outside or near the front door,

if you could use an antenna that is already there to forward the signal to your phone maybe you can increase the coverage area for your phone only.

people are complaining these phone signal repeating devices when setup properly give slow mobile internet compared to the normal phone signal but because you would want to use this to bring signal to an area with no signal whatsoever that wouldn't be a problem,

and i believe that is down to the device itself being a bottleneck for speed

3Mobile and Smarty which uses Three both have unlimited plans now and very reasonably priced. Vodafone have “phone” sims which work in a 4G router, again they also have unlimited plans.

Anboutside omnidirectional aerial along with a unlocked router can for most people give them broadband. Omnidirectional aerial... unless you can physically see the mast and its line of sight the signals bounce around. Just by having an external aerial which will have an amount of gain (provide a better signal) you can often get 4G broadband when your phone cannot.

Seems like with the right setup these could be setup in the house, car etc it could save you from missing calls when you are out and about in a weak signal area but it would be a bigger challenge to configure this to work with your phone rather than a router which works out of the box.

Ive used a mobile phone with tethering /wifi hotspot and it worked just the same as normal broadband for me.
Some cheap android phones do this now, you might be able to use one of these instead of your router.

Just need that signal repeater/booster to have the correct settings to connect your phone up to the aerial

The devices we were just discussing take a mobile phone signal and transfer it

Lots of these use DC power so they could be converted to work through the cigarette lighter plug as long as you make sure you have the right Voltage + Amperage = Wattage

You need to check a few bits of technical info about how you will use it and what with before making a selection

But If you only need this in the house EE offers an official product that uses a completely different system
https://ee.co.uk/help/help-new/general/signal-box/improve-your-signal-at-home-using-signal-box
That device uses an existing internet connection to give you a phone signal

I recommend getting full instructions before ordering anything
