And let us not forget, as some appear to have done, those political leaders who have an actual proven record of sexual misconduct. I'm not saying Salmond is innocent, but I do believe in "until proven guilty".

^Very much agreed, innocent until proven, Roachmill. Having said that, it must be remembered what Cyril Smith, M.P for the Liberal Party, was claimed to be up to. Lord David Steel believed that he was guilty.

Maybe Salmond is innocent George, is he still crowdfunding? Now the has the half million I would have thought he could give some back.

I am more concerned with the present, and holding our leaders and officials to account when they're still in the land of the living.

How many politicians facing serious charges have successfully persuaded the public to pay for their "top of the tree" lawyers? 

I was only suggesting that having screwed the SNP for half a million, maybe he could repay some money to his gullible and misguided followers.

^No, with Cyril all we can do is remember and hope that nothing like that happens again Claadehol. As to Alex, he may not be perfect but he was found to be not guilty. Didn't strip us bare like Tharcher did when her son ended up in jail abroad. She took the money off the people, it's claimed that Cyril did a bit of the naughty stuff. Alex Salmond was found to be not gulilty. He didn't strip the country bare and he was found to be not guilty.

Alex Salmond won a judicial review because of the incompetence of Leslie Evans, permanent secretary to the Scottish government, and the behind the scenes meetings held by our Nicola and Leslie with Alex Salmond. This botched investigation by ministers is what has cost the taxpayer a fortune, total could be £630,000 it seems, so far!

His trial will only take place early in 2020 and he is facing multiple charges. 

 

There's nothing morally wrong with Salmond and his ilk, as far as I can see anyway.

I guess not if its morally okay to be a narcissist with despotic tendencies who cons a country in to keeping their personal gravy train running.

I wouldn't know, as I've been advised my morals are questionable even on a good day. I just can't stand the man, he's all gob and no trousers, and comes over as somebody you wouldn't consider doing business with if he was peddling pre-loved motors.

Almost correct the judicial review was won due to Leslie Evans seeming bias. Nothing to do with meetings with Nicola Sturgeon.

Not sure if it was incompetence but seems strange that Evans ignored the investigation procedure that she wrote in tandem with head of HR who's name escapes me at the moment.

The court case is well on its way with Alex employing the best and possibly the most expensive QC in the business defending him to the hilt. He got half a million from the SNP due to the SNP's incompetence and another pile of cash to help him from his crowd funding campaign, so I guess he can afford it.

The accusers are of course being put through the mill and this I guess is fair enough. This is the recognised way to get to the truth of the matter and their motives will be called into question.

I have just noticed though that Tasmina Ahmed-Sheikh, ex SNP politician is giving our Alex a character reference. This is the  woman who lost her seat at the same time as Alex and went on to join him on his Russian TV show. 

This is the same woman who got a character reference from no other than John Bercow when she ended up in court for professional misconduct. She and her partner in a no longer practising law firm, were convicted of mishandling trust funds and were fined £3,000. There were no proper accounts held for this fund from which, contrary to the rules of the fund, they borrowed money.

Is this someone who should also be put through the mill and her veracity called into question due to her previous conviction.
