Many people are being forced to work from home during this horrible plague, but how many are getting the same £10,000 allowance that our MPs have awarded themselves.

Would have thought that sitting at home might have been cheaper as it would not incur any travel costs,or subsistence.

Hope they can all justify this by producing all the relative documentation at a later date.

Its not going to do anything!

Actually important things have been tied and failed a distraction will be found.

In other news:

People are hacking into video conferences to moon everyone there so a Draconian overreaction to that probably in the pipeline.

@ Urabug, sitting at home may well incur additional costs for some MPs, such as additional heating and lighting and depending upon where they live, those bills could easily amount to more than their travel costs.  That said, their constituency offices should be using less light and heat but their staff's homes will be using more.  Given that many MPs have more than one member of staff these days, do you not feel that their staff should be reimbursed for additional costs associated with working from home?

They will keep the 10k which is chump change to them anyway.

Maybe they will cut staff cost too

Most employers besides a selected few are in a state of arrested development why should the MPs towel boy be of a greater concern at this point.

If you want to take this up with their boss it would be more conducive talking to a bank would be more likely to facilitate this since someone up the chain has the direct line.

The taxpayer has had to take on Massive debts witch the profiteers at the banks will loan at interest so they can start buying the rest of the country.

Instead of distributing this directly

And if you think thats not doable look at a payslip

They will have a section for National Insurance and student Loan deductions regardless of whether or not the paid person owes either.

So next time you hear the Asinine idea that the banks are now bailing out the the public keep in mind

PUBLIC MONEY PRIVATE PROFITS

It costs them nothing and they can still pick and choose who gets it

Surely rent payments and business loans could use the existing system without the profiteers as middle men

Even if you find it fitting to profit from the state imposed lockdown surely the interest could instead be collected by the government instead to pay down debt or pay towards the NHS

These profiteers and middle men are the ones calling the shots THATS WHY

On a lighter note re the coronavirus lockdown I am wondering if isolation rules could be relaxed a little regarding trout fishermen, and if there is a possibility we could be considered a special case.

We belong to a certain sector of society whose mental health is often considered in serious doubt. Some of us are already borderline cases as can be ascertained by our obsessive manic pursuit of the elusive trout.

Anyone who has seen us at the start of the trout season, up to our oxters in the middle of a freezing loch with hailstones bouncing off our heads, will bear witness to our mental instability.

Sudden withdrawal of this pastime, though of little consequence to many, can well be enough for some, already teetering on the verge of insanity, to be tipped over the edge.

Now the last thing we need in the middle of a pandemic, is further pressure on our wonderful and overloaded NHS.

Therefore, we can't at this time have our paramedics, nurses, doctors and ambulances tied up with collecting and comforting rabid, foaming at the mouth anglers, fitting them with canvas jackets with wraparound arms, and shipping them to the screw factory to be rethreaded.

Wouldn't it make sense to allow us, as a unique and vulnerable group, to self isolate at remote Shetland lochs, in the hills where there are no gates to contaminate.

I can guarantee there will be considerably more than the recommended two metre distancing between anglers, even if they should wind up at the same loch.

Even in normal times any angler encroaching on another's territory is likely to be met with a colourful volley of abuse.
