Come on  people.  This is the "United Kingdom".  There has always been one rule for "them" and another for the rest of us.

So... should Dominic Cummings resign, or be sacked if he doesn't resign?

 

It seems Boris Johnson is taking quite a political gamble over this

If i had any respect to lose for The Conservative or Labour parties i would be losing it over this if he keeps him.

 

But here is the crux of it, weak competition.

If he has broken the law he should be prosecuted. 

Otherwise, this is a totally political row, and will split people depending on their political viewpoint.

Hopefully people will remember this at the next election.

The main difference between Boris and Trump, is that Boris has the ability to string 2 or 3 words together.

I don't like the guy, I don't like the noises he makes, and he's rather superficial and superfluous - hardly somebody worthy of the media's, or public time really. But, the media always needs a whipping boy for the only thing they're good at, witch hunts. Remember Norman 'on yer bike' Tebbitt, Peter Madelson the spin, John Prescott the volatile, 'common, northener slob' etc...... Yawn!

 

They'll get over this Cummings dude too in a bit of time and find someone else to pick on, and the sheep will continue to baa in approval at whoever that is too.

Careful when you say 'we elect them' on the bass you describe. I, for one, don't elect them on the assumption they're going to be talking 'pure baloney'. I value the integrity of elected officials, as do most people I discuss politics with. 

 

Regardless, Cummings wasn't elected - he's an employee of the government, and like other high profile employees of the government that have been found to be in breach of lockdown guidelines, he should step down or be removed from his position. I suspect that the reason Johnson hasn't sacked him is because Cummings is the brains behind Johnson's bluster

Its only natural that people idealogically opposed to the new right wing tories  .eg. socialists and pro devolutionists, will seize on this opportunity to make some political capital. Of course half the population may think its all fake news and hype.

You may find pockets of it to some degree in the lower ranks of political life, but in the higher echelons hen's teeth are far more commonplace.

The media caused the rules to be written through their scaremongering and alarmist reporting style, and now they're telling people someone who helped write those rules, has broken those rules, and unfortunately a significant percentage are swallowing what the media is saying without giving any of it the slightest thought.

 

The problem with the media, been now for a very long  time, is that they no longer just reports 'news', it also tells those digesting what they're saying, what to think about the 'news' and what to 'do' about that 'news'. In effect they take the bare bones of the facts and manipulate/spin a story based on those in the direction they feel like sending it in. Its no longer just reporting on a story, its taking it over and directing/manufacturing it.

 

'Fake news' doesn't enter in to this particular story anyway, its 'non-news', there is no scientific or even logical backing for the lockdown we've had/have. Social distancing, yes, but lockdown, no. Its just taking social distancing to the next level, for no benefit whatsoever. So why so many are getting their panties in a right old wad about somebody, anybody, allegedly breaking 'the rules' of something that serves no purpose in the present circustances is well beyond me.

 

Talk about creating an argument in an empty room. There's none better at it than the media.
