Funny that NullVoid's map doesn't show Shetland.  OK, it's not HIS map but, just saying.

Don't worry, Colin. It does have the Fair Isle in the wee box that has Qrkney in it. That's maybe because it was done originally by the Daily Mail. Written and printed nowhere near us or so I believe, so in relation to Shetland it's null and void.

Hee hee

Hello again George.

My results from Living DNA:-

Scandinavia, 18.6%

Orkney/Shetland, 31.9%

Ireland/Scotland, 22.6%

England, 26.9%

I'm happy with that.

Hi Claadehol.

Good test done, as it shows both Shetland and Orkney. I will need to consider having this done next.

There are at least 5 generations (maybe more) of Welsh coal miners in my DNA.  Does that mean my ancestry is black?  After all, everyone is 'black'(?) underground.  Better start taking a knee, just in case..  :thmbsup

Being Welsh, I knew that there was a difference between N.Walians and S.Walians.  West Wales is a little strange(?) as well.  Didn't need a map from the Daily Mail to tell me that..

Not surprised to read that 45% of SE England has French ancestry.  Never did like them to much....  :ponders:

Seriously though, the World is just a giant petri dish of human DNA.  Mixing DNA is the 'norm' and not at all unusual these days.  The percentages are just curiosities that will change over time..

Anyway, here on Shetland, I am pleased to claim my place as an 'Ethnic Minority'.

Based on too small a sample and Shetland is so far away from Scotland and Norway movement between has been less casual,

consider what older ships were like and how long they took.

survey that produced the map was from 2,000 white Britons and compared the results to data on more than 6,000 people from ten European countries

requirement for grandparents to have all been born near each other and were white means you have to find old stock people in places with very little passing traffic.

it is actually possible that mesoamerican dna was a clerical error and a Native American with White/Scottish ancestry unbeknown to him had his genes classified as all Native American and compared with yours.

Recent events like WW2 Norwegian government in exile operating in Shetland and oil boom would make it harder to find suitable candidates since boomers and their parents both see an influx of new people you need all 4 grandparents to be from the same place.

Do you have a Shetland specific study to compliment this?

No, I do not. Having said that, I doubt very much that I will ever forget the wee map that included the Fair Isle - or the guff that came before, during and after, or the guff that has been written on a thread that deals with Covid-19.

It will stay that way.

Back to the “pandemic” the disease itself is not a very big deal if we had never locked down we would have barely noticed but that is neither here nor there right now.

The biggest issue is the countless people who are going to be laid off and or evicted plus the additional towns that although liveable in 2019 will in 2021 lose most of their employers and become just like the former coal mining, seaside resort and factory towns that never got anything to replace those jobs when they disappeared.

I propose the government direct the support toward relocation packages and support for housing in areas that do recover and start to need staff so that we have less hardworking and or talented people trapped in poor areas where there is no work and they cannot make any use of their skills.

Housing market is a nightmare if you are inbetween jobs they should relax laws on live in trailers and shipping container houses to give those looking for work in these places a stepping stone to those looking to take a job in an area that will offer them work but has very little housing.

Put them on or near abandoned things if feasible

Housing associations and councils never have anything in stock when you move somewhere to work, get the workers into the community give them time to settle in and find a more permanent place and get rid of the container.

We need people who want to work to be able to move for work where work becomes available, I also believe in giving financial incentive and legal support to move overseas to a country they would prefer to anybody who asks if they agree to renounce citizenship.

The homeless charity Shelter has been pushing for interesting land reforms to make housing more available with some degree of success.

I also believe councils should be given the right to compulsory purchase buy to lets because they are very profitable yet cost more and don’t have the benefits of a housing association or council house, discount should be taken away from right to buy right to buy should be repurposed to recoup funds to fill coffers instead of creating a Ponzi scheme.

It takes time to build houses and we sometimes get them built in places where nobody wants to live so a movable structure is something I think will benefit those looking to escape from the awful parts of the uk if they manage to find a job in one of the first world parts.

What is your take on this?

So, now that the Pfizer cash cow...... 'vaccine' has finally landed. Are those getting it here going to get an 'I.D.' card to prove they've had it, or is that just the Welsh?

If they are, can other folk demand that anyone with any such card produces it? I'd prefer to keep a good distance up wind of them, I don't wanna be catching anything that was in that vial of gunk they got up 'em.

There is going to be a system of badges so you can identify who did or did not get them!

I know it's not very exciting but all those people who've had the vaccine haven't gained any spidey senses, super strength or the ability to smell colours, nobody seems to have grown an extra ear on their back, or turned into zombies.

As far as I'm aware there's no tiny microchip in it, I may be wrong though, can any vaccinated person tell me if they've been picked up as a Bluetooth device? Maybe their internet has improved? Is Bill Gates now at a computer screen keeping track of the movements of old biddies shuffling about the care home at Kantersted?

According to the boffins there's a 95% chance it will save you from catching covid though. Pretty impressive.

There a minimum over 96.5% chance that if you get the 'rona it won't kill you. Surely that's slightly prettier impressiver.

What percentage of that 3.5% for whom the 'rona will be fatal fall within the 5% for who the vaccine doesn't provide protection. Nobody knows, there is no data available yet. All of the 3.5% for whom the 'rona will be fatal could fall within the 5% for who the vaccine doesn't provide protection, its highly unlikely, but until data becomes available to prove anything, its an outcome equally as possible as any other.

Oh, yeah..... Epipens at the ready everybody.....

Are you suggesting that the Welsh Socialist Government is trying to introduce ID Cards via the back door ?    No surprises there...

There is a very large disconnect between what the Welsh Government want/say and what the people of Wales actually want.    Very much a case of "we don't want no steenkin badges"...   Oops, that's Mexican..  :ponders:
