So asylum seekers dont get dole until naturalised citizens . So where do they live and what do they live on while their asylum claim which in many cases takes years  is being processed ?

What happens to asylum seekers when they reach the UK? > https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-33729417

Depends on whit du means by 'dole'. Job Seekers Allowance is up to £58.90 a week. Asylum seekers canna 'seek work' and get £36.95 a week.

Last year Serco won a £2.9 billion pound contract to house migrants in fully furnished accommodation

Dey got da contract to house asylum seekers, a specific kind o migrant > https://www.amnesty.org/en/what-we-do/refugees-asylum-seekers-and-migrants

You become a citizen as soon as you claim asylum because the point of asylum is so that you cant be sent back,

No really, at first you're legally an asylum seeker until your application for refugee status is processed. If you're successful den you can work, claim benefits, have an NI number etc but you're still no a citizen, and you could have refugee status revoked if da government decide you no longer fit da refugee criteria (if da country you fled fae isna a risk onymare fur example).

You need to apply for citizenship separately.

As asylum seekers do not have access to the benefits system, they can't be held responsible for the payment of Council Tax.

If its the case they have to live on £37 a week they picked the wrong country they should have gone to Germany or Sweden where the money will be a lot more generous i would suspect . Just cant see how anyone could live on £37 a week in this day an age thats only about a fiver a day .

Truth is that asylum should be claimed at the first "safe" country a seeker(?) gets to.

I suspect that a large number of our "asylum seekers" are nothing more that "economic migants" intent on living in the land of "milk and honey".

We put a roof over their heads whilst they are being "processed" and give them some "pocket money" to spend in the meantime.

I don't understand where their sense of "entitlement" is coming from.

A single person in this situation can get by on £37 pw if they have to.  Large bag of tatties is under £4 at Testco.  A tin of beans is about 35p.  You can even get a steak there for less than £3.

It's not what you earn, it's how you spend it....

What's the alternative - let them sleep on the streets and starve?

"What's the alternative - let them sleep on the streets and starve?"

That comment is "dumb" and only proves that you did not properly read my post.

I'll try it from another angle.

One a person passes through the first "safe" country in which they can claim asylum, they become "migrants".  Simple really!!

The fact that we put them in accommodation and give them some pocket money makes your comment look ridiculous.
