The biggest laugh is that a great number of Scottish Celtic fans are so absorbed in all things Irish that they only drink Guiness, listen to U2 or The Pogues , watch their team in an Irish theme bar, and give their kids Irish names like Sean or Keiran !!  Sound familiar ?

No really no, dunna lik guiness, do admit to likin da Pogues and U2 not because there Irish but because they`re good bands sometimes watch the game in mooneys, dont have kids and widna give them Irish names because I support celtic!

Tell me why do some Rangers fans who are scottish support and wear england shirts?

I don't know any, do you ?

Oh, and by the way 'Scottish' and 'England' start with capital letters just like 'Irish'.

And that one wasn't much better...

We all ready have the flag related sort of stuff in the "We're no as bad as you"..."Aye you ur"..."Naw we urnae" thread.

Can we keep this to football chat. I know that mocking Rangers current form takes away from the mind-numbing pain and reality of Aberdeen's season thus far.

Yes, well said Tomblands, this thread has no need of going down the Rangers v Celtic route. There are already at least two that have done that.

Should we re-name it "league chit-chat" or something, to open it out, or do you's want to keep the focus on Caley and Rangers?

How many of the following clubs are competing in Europe this week?

ICT

Hearts

Hibs

Aberdeen

None of them? I see, so I take it that fans of the aforementioned clubs will be cheering on "rubbish' Rangers as the Scottish representatives in the Uefa Cup?

And before anyone asks, no, I will not be supporting Celtic tonight. Footballing rivalry need not be put aside on occasions like that. I doubt if a Milan fan is pleased to see Inter winning in Europe, nor would a follower of Tottenham be chuffed to see Arsenal being successful (All together now, "Nayim from the half-way line"). Now these are real rivalries - not the kind made up by, for example, Aberdeen fans who seem to think that they are keen rivals of Rangers.

I do want other Scottish Clubs to win. Good God, I even bought Aberdeen's "European Song" - and I still have it!

General chit-chat is fine.

However, there is no doubt that all the other teams want to take a poke at the PLG revolution right now.

After all this is the highly respected manager who was going to be a breath of fresh air in the espeeeel this season. The Glasgow based press built this man up so far that we all were led to believe that he would sweep European football will Rangers.

So far not so good.

And while I am on. The keeper thingy is hugely funny. He has, buy this action, laid out to his entire squad that it matters not how you perform but whether or not he has a notion in his head of how you do. McGregor had by all accounts done very well behind a creaking defence, but was shunted as soon as the French chap could get his boots tied. If this was a situation like Peter Scmeichael (sepling?) versus his understudy you might understand it, but this is a no mark French guy versus a keeper who has a rising stock and was playing well. From a man management point of view it makes no sense at all.

He also has Scotland’s top scorer warming the bench while he bemoans the lack of a striker in his team?

I think this is the wrong PLG that has turned up in Glasgow. This man is most likely a coach of some athletics club who applied for the job and got it because nobody could speak French.

No-one is denying that Rangers are pish just now but those who are so eagre to slate PLG are just jumping on the media bandwagon. Any new manager needs time, not giving him it means that you have made your mind up without knowing enough information.

Wheesht, what has impressed you so much about McGregor? I haven't seen him make a save that I wouldn't expect any Rangers keeper to make. But I have seen him let in a shot which he got his whole hand to (the first one against the tims). Any keeper will tell you that if they get that much on a shot they should be saving it. He didn't seem to have a tremendous season for the pars last year either.

I have no problem with the Letizi decision, I just wish the Rangers fans themselves would lay of PLG and let him make those decisions. I have no problem with Boyd being on the bench either. PLG has a way which he wants his team to play, if that way doesn't involve a poacher like Boyd then thats fair enough, the team should still be trying to play his way.

Junior, sorry have to disagree there.

It's no media bandwagon.

Results from PLG are very poor, on and off the park. His signings are poor and he certainly has not cemented any relationship with players that were there already. If we are to belive the noises coming from Ibrox (I do) then he has lost the respect of the players and staff as well as the board, other than Murray. Wee Baz has fallen out with now as well.

McGregor had been playing well, he is no better or worse than Letizi from what I have seen. On that basis alone there were no grounds to drop him at the very first "opportunity", it has only served to further deapen the suspision that he simply does not have what it takes to manage Rangers.

On the Boyd thing then just sell him (I suspect PLG will) and keep up with Sebo etc, the can maybe run, but they can't finish.

Wheesht is right on this one.

It would seem PLG's man management is all to pot. Also, at a big club, you do have to win over the fans. The best way is by getting good results - he has yet to achieve that. Also, dropping good young Scottish prospects is probably not gonna help him either.

I just think that it is too early too judge him.

Your suspicions of poor man management, if true, are more worrying than the poor results. I hadn't heard about this, its about the worst thing that can happen to a team :(

Wheesht, I think we are just about agreed on MacGregor and Letizi, they are about the same quality. I'm personally happy for the gaffer to decide who plays, even if that means "dropping" the Scottish guy.

I don't like seeing a good young Scottish player (Boyd) not getting a game either, but like I say, if PLG wants his team to play a certain way, and that way doesn't involve a poacher, then so be it. If Boyd is good enough he will adapt his game to suit, and I think he has started doing just that.

Well then in the case of this Hearts fan you take it wrong. I support neither of the ugly sisters in European games unless there's some way in which it will be beneficial to Hearts.

Pray tell, what are these selective games where you support the top clubs in Scotland where the outcome is of benefit to Hearts? Surely if you want Hearts to benefit you should be supporting Rangers and C****c on every occasion as all Scottish clubs rely on these two every single year to ensure that the co-efficient remains high enough so that clubs like Hearts can get the chance of entry to the Champions League by coming second in the league. As an aside, Scotland certainly can't rely on Hearts to keep up the co-efficient. Which is a pity as I recall watching highlights of a great European night at Tynecastle on TV - 1976/77 Leipzig 5-1 2nd leg victory after a 2-0 defeat away from home. Superb stuff.
