is it fair that someone who has grown to say 6'2 and is his/her natural weight for his height.. pays more than someone who is 5'2 and his/her natural weight.

both things that neither of them can control.. but one is going to be punished for something that is in his/her genes.

You could say the same about clothes. Small people who can still fit into children's sizes don't pay VAT, while extremely large people have to go to specialist shops and end up paying a fortune.

I think before they implement this that they should ensure all the scales at the various HIAL airports are actually calibrated correctly.

I was speaking to a man a few weeks ago who regularly travels to Shetland to calibrate scales. For this task he has a box of calibrated weights. There was a kilo difference between two airports. Will you be charged if you have 15.5kg?

Kinda got off the main subject hasn't it.

Even further now we've had this little to-and-fro' ;)

But yeah... was hoping to delete some of mine but of course they can't be when there are replies. I'm sure a friendly mod can retrieve this thread.... pretty please ;)

I was hoping that a post back on subject had appeared, but alas.

Wizards and wurzels, quit it. Get in to the bags....erm, i mean discuss the luggage again. Thank you.

My favourite anecdote on this subject was from many years ago when i was returning from the mainland with a guitar case, amp and a rucksack full of books, all of which topped the scales at over 60 kgs, more than double the allowance for the flight. But the gem of a lass on the check-in desk let me off as i looked forlorn, skint, knackered and made a joke about being on a diet when she said i was overweight. I still owe her a drink for that one. :D
