Jonners
I am a Rangers fan and I don't know what 'We Are The People' means. Am I entitled to an explanation??
moorit
I am a Rangers fan and I don't know what 'We Are The People' means. Am I entitled to an explanation?? This is all I could find when I did a Google search. I assume therefore there is nothing sectarian about it, otherwise I am sure sad Celtic supporters like Db would have had something written about it all over the internet. We Are The People presents over 1000 postcards of ordinary people made exceptional by the lens of the camera. These images, all real photographs in postcard form, have been selected from the extensive collection of the artist, Tom Phillips, a postcard addict for a quarter of a century. Jonners
I have an inkling that it may have something to do with a verse in the Bible, although I'm not sure why I think this. Interesting fact - apparently Queen of the South are the only Scottish football club mentioned in the Bible!
AndDenWeMadeTea
'We Are the People' This is effectively a reference to the history of Scotland and how Rangers and Rangers supporters percieve they fit into this. I emphasis the word 'percieve' 'We are the People' is a reference that Rangers supporters as being 'real Scots', and representative of the majority of Scots, as opposed to those of other clubs - notably Celtic - whom it is percieved originate from Irish immigrants. We are basically 'Jack Thamsons Bairns'. As a Rangers fan myself, I know that this is complete baloney. But, it is just a 'bragging right' of supporters - a taunt of 'percieved' superiority. I wouldn't get too hung up upon it, nor take it too seriously. If you question this perception,I suggest you read 'Sectarianism and Protestant Culture in Modern Scotland' Brilliant read about all this kind of stuff. Stan
Interesting fact - apparently Queen of the South are the only Scottish football club mentioned in the Bible! Ah yes, I remember. And lo, the voice of Chick Young came down from the Heavens and said; "with the score at Queen of the South nil, Cairo Rovers 2, the match was sensationally abandoned due to a plague of locusts. I'm pure gutted. The match has been re-arranged to take place at Jerico within its 'Taylor Report' approved safety walls" Didn't Jesus say I will heal this woman you have brought to me, I will make your MOTHER WELL! Enough, already!
kirsty
Are people aware that in view of the SFA announcing that the Championship will not be won when an old firm game is played ( hence the mayhem of 1999 when Rangers beat Celtic 3-0 to wrap up the title) that Celtic may do the same in the next old firm game. Will the SFA postpone the fixture?

Will the SFA postpone the fixture? Why would they have to postpone that fixture? Its a league, and should be left alone. I would think that if it came to that the supports of Celtic will all want to be there and the supporters of Rangers would be more than happy to be elsewhere, no? Tomblands
I think it has more to do with the possible crowd trouble afterwards. When Rangers won the title at Celtic Park all those years ago (when they did "the huddle" at full time) I seem to remember there being severe trouble around the ground. I don't think it's an SFA/SPL matter, the police probably have more to say about it that anyone else.

Not that we should allow hooligans of any club dictate when and where which games should go ahead but I think it would be arong to postpone this fixture. The other incident was differren in that the team winning the league was the away side. If Celtic were to acttuali clinch it I would think the vast majority of supporters swould be staying for the party where as the away support would be heading for the taxis.
