oldtimer
The Dundas / Zetland family are held in high regard here in the North East. Over the years they have contributed immensly to the area and the present Marquess is a great guy who is very approachable and always willing to participate in the varied events held locally. My connection is the Zetland Lifeboat Museum which houses the oldest lifeboat in the world and which has long ties with the family. It was Thomas Dundas who was responsible for ordering the boat in 1802 and which went on to save over 500 lives in a total of 78 years service. Baron Farkoff
I held a copy of Fred Irvine's book in my hands yesterday, and one of the cartoons said that when shetland was gifted to the uk by the danes, Foula was not included.Fascinating! Ghostrider
^^ Well, they had their own Queen, going to war with Foula wouldn't have been a wise move. I'd avoid falling out with Foula at almost all costs, some very fine women with Foula blood in their veins.
