JAStewart
He drove the Ferrari, sure, but he also made errors Stig normally wouldn't.
MJ
Someone explain to me why it takes less time for a letter to get from Scilly to Orkney than a letter from Shetland to Orkney? And I take it Top Gear figured "The Orkneys" were as far north as most people would recognise. trooter
Seem to remember hearing the mail from Shetland goes to Aberdeen or Inverness then back up to Orkney!
Spinner72
Mail goes from Shetland to Aberdeen and back here again I think you'll find.. I tried several experiments a few years back when sending my brother stuff in edinburgh, and he always got something posted from here before I got something posted at the same time back again. It does actually make sense when you think about it - it would be a terrible waste of resources for the mail to sort everything before it leaves here given the (one would assume) comparitivey small volume of mail sent internally within the isles, when mail has to go south, and mail has to come up north, anyway. Edit - to keep this on topic however - as amusing as UK Top Gear is, are there any big fans of the Australian show here? Now after two Aussie series, even as a fan of TG from day one, I prefer the Aussie version.
CrunchieSquirrel
Can't stand watching it at all! Their challenges are just silly.
ArabiaTerra
... And I take it Top Gear figured "The Orkneys" were as far north as most people would recognise.I think it was to give the car a chance of winning. If they had gone to Shetland, then the 12 hour boat trip vs the 1 hour mail flight would have guaranteed they lost.
Spinner72
It was an alright bit of fun, but a completely false advert for the royal mail. According to the tracking service a letter posted yesterday morning special delivery hasn't left Shetland yet.. So, plenty of time to cruise with Northlink and take in many of the countries attractions on the way and you'd still easily beat a letter.. JohanofNess
^I was wetting myself every time he did it, the joke never got old for me. Makes me think though Geordie that lived down the road from me when I was little had Reliant Robin I can never mind my dad having to put him back on his wheels when he took the left hander down the hill to his farm. Maybe Clarkson was being more exuberant than Geordie when steering.
Kavi Ugl
I haven't laughed so much in "years" to the point that the tears were threatenig to come down my face!!. That part where he came from nowhere and landed on the cricket pitch just about ended me. And then when he did a burn up as he left...... Bravo
Para Handy
We would have done better in the world cup if the Topgear team had been playing
Widworx
Best telly I've seen for a while. It certainly made me laugh. How he did'nt hurt himself, i'll never know!!
jz
Well, apparently I must lack a sense of humour. It was quite concerning to see the car overturned onto a cricket wicket - the groundskepper would not have been pleased. Any chance of a car programme that reviews cars that most people will actually drive?
MuckleJoannie
^Top Gear is an entertainment show that happens to feature cars
Spinner72
I do believe in this day and age it has been made nigh impossible to offer a show like the original Top Gear was way back due to all the legal gobbledegook involved, no car maker wanting a bad review etc etc. Top Gear in it's current guise is a masterpiece of "organic" TV. They've developed into a winning, extremely entertaining, format that if you were to try to pitch it as a new show, wouldn't stand a chance!
