BigMouth
Does anyone have any information regarding the exchanges which are on 512k? I seem to remember Tavish having a hand in one being upgraded not that long ago? He's a talented guy that Tavish. I can certainly see why he was voted in. Can he come and look at my washing machine later?

ArabiaTerra
My connection has been dropping at random intervals in the last couple of days. Anyone else been having problems? I'm on the Lerwick exchange. Also, some sites, including Shetlink have been dreadfully slow when loading or switching between pages.
BigMouth
I have noticed a huge improvement since binning the LinkSys WAG54G router and replaced it with a Belkin. The LinkSys really is a complete heap of poo. It serves as a wireless print server now and my net woes are a thing of the past
Muppet
I've found the same as you Arabia. Lost my connection completely once on Tuesday night I think it was, but often it is dreadfully slow. I'm in Lerwick too.
ArabiaTerra
The thing is, it doesn't seem to be due to net traffic at busy times of the day (such as now) but spread randomly throughout the day and night. At the moment everything is working fine, but earlier this afternoon when I posted first it was awful. I had time to get up and make a cup of tea while waiting for Shetlink to load

hairyian
my connection has been so slow and basically not working in the last week, im in lerwick aswell and on BT http://speedtester.bt.com/ might be a starting point to finding what the problem is. Muppet
^^ Does that site only work with BT accounts? I tried it but when it asked for the login details it wouldnt accept them.
hairyian
^^ Does that site only work with BT accounts? I tried it but when it asked for the login details it wouldnt accept them. It only works with BT ADSL, but any ISP.We don't have any non-BT ADSL lines in Shetland.Only asks me enter my telephone number. However, that is on fixed speed line, if your on Max, it goes to a much flakier site, noted for always being 'busy' and giving random error messages! However, if you can get it to play ball the info is worth it.
Pooks
It does ask for the Username in some circumstances. Remember that your Username for the ADSL connection is probably different to your 'normal' Username. e.g. PlusNET is 'username@plusdsl.net'
Ghostrider
Anybody here on Tiscali Broadband, particularly at the Ness?? Mine died at around 2.30am this morning, and it's still down. Just wondering if it's a widespread issue, and I should try and be patient as I pace the floor cussing them, or if they've been monkeying with my account only and are needing an ear chewing over the phone. Thanks.
Pooks
Do you use a router? If so what does it say when the connection fails? Other broadband connections aboot da Ness are working fine so it doesn't sound like an exchange problem.
BigMouth
I have heard lots of bad reports about Tiscali and their account handling. Sadly I have heard very few good reports.
Fjool
Tiscali are 'teh turdzor' (in internet parlance). I dumped them for Pipex who, typically enough, were promptly bought out by Tiscali.
