Looking for an argument you can actually finish (albeit by logging out or switching off your monitor)? I'm not looking to find fault with the place. Nor, I believe, are many others here. That doesn't help your disappointment, that's really not good Thanks zebedee and thanks for the tip - that might just be worth remembering for the future. I wouldn't want to be too harsh on the poor(bookings) lass for not mentioning that there was another showing of the Brave film later this week as we can all feel the pressure at times but it was just the way we were basically abandoned with no offers of help or anything that annoyed me. Imagine if we'd travelled from Whalsay or Sandness etc?. In my book the manager should have been called to discuss and deal with it and what they could also have done was wait to see if anybody with tickets didn't turn up then, assuming it could work in, give us those seats. Although I'm not a fan of Mareel I'm not trying to bash it for the sake of it -it's just that on this occassion their customer care was woeful and I do think a lesson needs to be learnt for future incidents..... One other thing I'd like to mention is that the revolving door is a death trap and some peerie bairn is literally going to get killed. While there I saw two lasses spinning it was fast as they could to the point it sounded like the thud thud from the rotors of a Bell helicopter and my heart was in my mouth at the thought of a peerier bairn or toddler getting mangled in it...... It looks big enough for 2 people to go in each section, but when I did with a friend it was just too compact and I got my heels bumped repeatedly. One person at a time is too slow for a group going through. I suppose there was a size limit with the need (?) for proper doors either side as well, but the free-wheeling system is very likely to claim some victims - especially when there are enthusiastic youngsters pushing it, as there seemed to be little resistance. I hope they have plenty of 1st Aiders to hand. The system at the Museum is excellent - although I have heard of small children getting trapped halfway through after touching the rear of the door and triggering the autostop. daveh Posted September 16, 2012 Report Share Posted September 16, 2012 It was our first visit to the Mareel last night and we were very impressed with the place. Particularly so the toilets; surely the best public ones in town and with a superb view of the water outside as well (the toliets near the bar, that is). Our only gripe last night, though was the music volume at the Blues festival. It was unnecessarily far too loud, probably very close to the point where it was ear-damaging, and spoilt our enjoyment. In fact, we left early to preserve our hearing and thus missed the last act entirely. Why does the music volume need to be turned up to such dangerous levels? I really hope that the Mareel operators have good public liability insurance to cover potential claims for ear damage caused if it continues to allow it to be so high.
