Perhaps this has already been mentioned.

Surely the simple way around the dogs is to take a car? As far as I am aware, the dogs only sniff foot passengers, and if they do check cars I am pretty sure the smell of the car deck is enough to put them off?

The dogs are on the car deck too. I came back with the car once and we were told to wait till the dogs had been round before we could go down to the cars.

First drugs tried are usually caffine, alcohol and nicotine but of course most people don't even consider these sanctioned drugs when discussing drug use/abuse.

This is very true. usualy shouted by the people who are pro some of the illegal drugs or another.

i do think is some of the drugs you mention were to be invented today they would also be on the illegal list too.

Its not that long they actualy took Coke the drug out of coke the drink! (that might be a mith though)

I can't get enthusiastic about dogs against drugs when they criminalise cannabis users yet do nothing for those addicted to alcohol, nicotine and the other hard drugs. Addiction is surely the problem we should be tackling, not the occassional use of soft drugs. The funds ploughed into the dogs could be used instead to educate the young about addictions of all kinds. Those with drug problems need Detox, not Detection.

What exactly is educational about taking sniffer dogs in to schools? Is it the old don't take drugs children because we have these wonder dogs that will track you down? This sort of scare tactic approach doesn't work.
Educational, as in educating about the possible hazards of drug-taking.

Since when did Dogs Against Drugs create the laws?

I agree that any addiction - eg alcohol - is a serious problem, and that drug usage is included in that category of serious social problems. However, whether 'soft' drugs should be legalised is a completely different issue and nothing to do with Dogs Against Drugs. The inference from your post is that the sniffer dogs here are purely working on cannabis, which I don't believe is the case.

Fair point Fifi.

But I understand that the sniffer dogs find it easier to sniff out cannabis than the other drugs, so perhaps they move the emphasis of policing and social attitudes away from the major problem of addiction (and the behaviours that go with it) and towards focusing simply on anyone hapless enough to be caught with any amount of cannabis.

Why do you need dogs to educate about the dangers of drug use?

By the way, how do you get these clever white rectangles with quotes? :?:

For quoting, use the 'quote' button on the top right of every post and the content of that post will start your next one, with a white surround.

Or doin it the hard way type in "[q u o t e][/q u o t e]" at the start and end of a passage, (minus the spaces i've added to stop it the code making a white box)or use the quote button on the reply page. The first way is the easiest though. :tmbup;

ps try using the "preview" button before submitting to try out quoting and the other text features available on the reply page, like bold or italics if you like.

Thanks.

Geometry obviously not my strong point :!:

It has been said before but these sniffer dogs could be encouraging people to use harder drugs because they are easier to get past the dogs. Therefore increasing the transition from cannabis to heroin use.
