Mcdilly-Willy Posted May 16, 2007 Report Share Posted May 16, 2007 People having problems with Read Post indicators etc with firefox: When you have read the post do you then click "Back" in the browser?I seem to get the same problem. But if you click a navigation link on the actual shetlink page it works. i.e. click on the forum link again or the topic link to go back instead of using the browsers back button.... peeriebryan Posted May 16, 2007 Report Share Posted May 16, 2007 Using the 'back' button usually pulls in a page from the cache, so the message indicator will appear as unread Most of the cookies store session variables ie. they expire when you log out or leave the website, thereby ending the session The only persistent cookie was the one which was invoked when the 'remember me' checkbox was ticked. However, it doesn't appear to be that as we disabled the function and the problem was still evident with some users It seems to be boiling down to whatever is causing browsers to incorrectly update the "You last visited on..." info Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I think my cookie problems may be my fault. I always un-check the 'remember me' option. Seems to work fine if I leave it checked. I would rather not be logged in automatically when I visit Shetlink. I was on here a couple of hours ago, but according to the thing at the top of the page - "You last visited on Wed May 16, 2007" Posts I've already read and ones I've written since yesterday are lighting up as unread. That doesn't seem to be the case. I've tried with IE and firefox, both with the 'remember me' option checked and un-checked. It is telling me that I last visited on Fri May 18, 2007 1:44 pm, which is not true. All posts after that time are marked as unread. I've tried all of the above with the in_vacanza_test account and it says that I last visited on Tue May 15, 2007 7:33 pm. Again, not true.
