Would you have left your kids alone?

Recommended Posts

What is unbelievable is that someone finds their three year old missing and then turns back the way they came, leaving two 2 year olds still in the room unguarded AGAIN. Did she not worry that the kidnapper was in the progress of filling his van and might be on the way back for the rest of her kids.

[options]

1. Momentary lapse of reason.

(Shameful mothering instinct that)

OR

2. Calculated risk.

(What another one)

OR

3. She knew they were safe as she wasn't intending to kill any more of her kids, for the meantime.

(Think about it)

But KOYAANISQATSI, how many of us would be able to think/act/speak rationally, if we had our own child abducted ? As a parent, I KNOW that I would find the abduction of one of my children to be intensely traumatic. I'd imagine that my mind would be in turmoil. In such an instance, I believe that my powers of reason would be severely impaired, as would my ability to function properly.

I think that too much importance is being placed on what Kate McCann did and said immediately after the (apparent) abduction. In such a situation, I suspect that not many of us would be able to string together a coherent sentence.

With cold hindsight, it is easy for all of us sitting comfortably at home with our computers to say how we might act, but the reality would, I believe, be quite different.

Interestingly, the same analogy occurred to me, lastpubrunner, or similar, in that the two sons of Diana showed remarkable restraint during the personal trauma, horror and grief of her sudden death, which under the logic of certain viewpoints present here, would mean that they must have been complicit in her demise.

If you see what i mean.

edit. Also, the point about the kids being drugged, in order to keep them quiet either before or during the disappearance, i think the 'necessity' of this is nonsense. I've seen pre-school bairns asleep in the midst of a fair old hullaballoo without so much as stirring and without any mickey-finn or suchlike, whatsoever. /edit

Couldn't have put it better myself !!!

If going by some other theorys here, how do you explain the X-ray eyes of the "kidnapper", that he knew which room had kids in and no adults.

How about them and their mates taking a lie detector test, and compare results, to put all our minds a bit more at ease.

I bet that Robert Murat would jump at the chance.

I bet the McCanns and their pals would say no chance.

I think most people are wondering how DNA samples closely matching Madeleine's can be found in the McCann's car which they didn't have access to until 25 days after she went missing.

Apparently Robert Murat's car and the McCann's car were inspected and had samples taken from them on the same day by the Portuguese police. These samples were then handed over for analysis in UK.

Ditch the case on the McCanns, oh I dont think so.

Here's the hard done by from your link:

The court heard a catalogue of horrifying details, including an earlier video taped confession from Joana’s uncle in which he related the circumstances of his niece’s murder. This video testimony is now the subject of an appeal from the defence team who claim it should be excluded because the couple exercised their right to remain silent during the trial. In the taped confession, João Cipriano said he and his sister hit Joana who then banged her head against a wall before collapsing, unconscious, onto the floor. João Cipriano claimed that he had wanted to call an ambulance but that his sister prevented him, telling him instead to go to Joana’s stepfather and inform him that she had disappeared.

Pinheiro explained why his team was pressing for such a long sentence. “The defendants’ guilt is heightened by their cold and calculating behaviour after their child’s death, as well as the devious manoeuvres they adopted to conceal the crime,†he said.

In the video taped confession, João Cipriano admitted that the body of the girl was dismembered and placed in a refrigerated trunk. A doctor involved in the case, Albino Santana dos Santos, conceded that body parts, matching the size of a girl of Joana’s height, could have been stuffed inside the trunk.

The couple received 16 year sentences.

What the report doesn't say is the mother waited 2 days before she notified the police.

During that time she washed her house down with petrol.Blood was found in the freezer belonging to Joana which the mother claimed came from a nose bleed after she had given Joana a beating.

I've refrained from commenting on this case as there are far too many unknowns to even come close to an intelligent guess as to what did happen to Madeleine.

The Portugese Police are the only ones who know what evidence there is or is not.

One thing that I have always felt though, is that IF the McCann's did have anything to hide, surely the last thing would want would be to keep the case in a glare of publicity. Surely it would be in their best intersts to hope it quietly got forgotten by an investigating force who are clearly not the most efficient police force on the planet.

Last week, Mr McCann condemned a report in a Portuguese newspaper which claimed that he and his wife had accidentally killed Madeleine with an overdose of drugs.

The McCanns have denied any involvement in their daughter's disappearance and the father of Madeleine McCann yesterday appealed to the media to end its obsession with his daughter's disappearance.

I've seen them "fall" asleep in the midst of a hullaballoo, but if they fall asleep in silence the chances are heavily on they will awake if something noisey kicks off (parental awareness that first born is abducted for instance)

hence that most common of rebukes; "ssshhhh the kids are sleeping"

The shock and fear it would install WOULD have most grabbing the other two kids to prevent further losses, not bombing off again leaving them.

Sheer mammilion instinct that.

So what is this limbic mammal brain all about anyway? The big idea is that the limbic brain is our relationship brain designed to enable mammals which have live birth and which need the tribe to protect the mother to form the attachments that are essential for the success of these large investments in the other - the other baby, the mate and the tribe.
