My point is that as a parent you would assume the child had wandered off (the door was unlocked) and a frantic search including shouting - which would have been heard at the tapas bar- would be the very first reaction. Why wouldn't the appartment be the prefered 'safe zone' it still had 2 of her children in it, and would the most familiar place to her. KOYAANISQATSI
The couple, who are both Roman Catholics, have said they are delighted to be formally invited to the Vatican after making the request Is the pope going out looking as well. Twerto
this is becoming a complete farce
hellsbells
I agree Twerto it is turning into a complete farce. As said in previous posts we don't exactly know how we and Maddies mam should/could have acted but I would have absolutely screamed the building down and not have left the other 2 bairns to go back to the resturant. And i'm not a catholic so maybe this is going to come out completely wrong but what the f*** can the pope do for them that isn't being done already? sorry i don't want to offend any catholics out there, but what? moorit
this is becoming a complete farce What exactly is farcical about trying everything possible to find your missing child ? It's all about keeping it public. This will help keep it in the media spotlight and who knows the news might reach someone who can help. That's why there are programmes like Crimewatch on telly. Many crimes have been solved years later after being on Crimewatch.
KOYAANISQATSI
Well I suppose the pope meets a lot of people, though maybe not that many kidnappers or murderers, perhaps they should try the local godfathers, or maybe catholics know something about the pope the rest of us dont. hellsbells
Moorit, I personally meant that the no news and nothing about the case except odd snippets for a few days was a bit o a farce and then big news of the family going to see the pope. I know the key issue is to keep the case in the spotlight and have a good outcome but as I said before how can the pope help? He is the leader of a church not a private detective. I wish with all my heart that the lass is found soon
moorit
^ How can the Pope help ?? Well, as you say the key issue is to keep the case in the spotlight. (** mod edit - excess quoting removed. Twerto
But IMO to much publicity is a bad thing.. yes it is very good to get the publicity to begin with.. but the longer you prolong it, the faster people switch off and start not to care.. sounds nasty but such is society.. Styles
I agree with you twerto, im fed up with it and I know it sounds nasty but the whole storys annoying me now. Thinking about it the police would probally have a good case of criminal negligence against the parents.
moorit
^^Not that fed up to stop you showing interest in this topic here. The visit to the Pope is obviously keeping up the profile of the case.
Styles
If the parents were not from the middle class, with good jobs and religious but chavs or somthing of that ilk the press would have crucified them and been baying for blood.
sailor
They will be. Once Maddie is found. We all know the press and us for buying papers and watching news like nothing more than putting people on a pedastool just waiting to knock it out from under them.
