Fjool
I heard this on Radio Scotland last night. Sad news, but it's also important to remember that he lived a long, full and rewarding life and gave pleasure to many.
markj
Saddened to hear of the passing of peerie willie yesterday, the council should commission someone to make a bench with a statue of him sitting playing his guitar somewhere in the toon centre as a tribute to one of the last true shetland legends. Guest Anonymous
Very sad news, and yes it would be very fitting for a memorial to Willie, and his influence on music in Shetland, and further afield, to be erected.Willie played, and gave people so much pleasure, so often in The Lounge, that a statue near there would seem almost fitting. Fifi
Wow, thanks for that Andyv. I grew up in Dundee and Mick Marra, as we knew him then, lived a few houses along the road from us. Meh sister went oot wi' his brother once or twice.. Yes, I echo the sentiments and also think the suggestion of Peerie Willie sitting strumming on a bench would be lovely. It would be a popular place for people to sit next to him for a photie.
