trout
Hmm - no reason they shouldn't view. Have they registered prior? Would there be an issue with a firewall on the computer in question? - i.e. shetlink is within a blocked zone?
ewenutz
i don't know, its all very odd, he's registered and used to be shetlink quite a bit, then it just stopped working, page cannot be displayed is all he gets now. weird
Fjool
He could try flushing his DNS cache: Run -> cmdipconfig /flushdns

deardron
I noticed in few recent days that my registration on this forum expires too quickly. Normally it used to last as long as weeks and me getting back after such a long absense this website still recognized me. Now the login session expires in less than a day and I need to type my nickname/password anew which I don't like. Is it about security restrictions or just something that can be improved? trout
Hi deardron - yes, it was as a security measure we set the timeout to 24hrs. It stops open sessions being hijacked. If you have a browser that saves your username and password into a list then that is one option to stop the annoyance.
deardron
Hi deardron - yes, it was as a security measure we set the timeout to 24hrs.As my experience shows, this timeout is much shorter, about 2-3 hrs.OK, it's an idea about a saving option in my browser.. Fjool
^ It's not that your IP address is changing is it, deardron? That could possibly have the same effect.
deardron
I think it's not the case, I have a static IP address.
Medziotojas
I wonder if it's anything to do with the location. I have to sign in every time, even if it should only be after two minutes. Admittedly my IP address can change when I shutdown the computer and restart it, but I need the Internet for work and I'm never disconnected. KOYAANISQATSI
It did that to me for a while back there, but it seems to mind me now.
trout
It did that to me for a while back there, but it seems to mind me now. Yes, it's a custom login designed specifically for the whole site. Shetlink has been aware that IE has a mind of it's own sometimes - though if deleting cookies things "should" be hunk-dorey *cough*. Hmm.....
