I went for a job a while back and the company paid my flight to the mainland to interview me, expenses and flight back. Just short of £400 for a day out in Aberdeen. Pre-requisites of the job were a Maths degree and data analysis experience. I didn't have the former so I told them that and they still wanted me to come. Three of us were shortlisted. One dropped out. Down to two I felt that I must be in with a chance. No. I didn't get the job and the number one reason was because I didn't have a degree!
