kirsty
As I said, they paid over £100 million into a tax avoidance scheme so must have known exactly what they were doing. Tax avoidance is not illegal. No but evasion is. The fact is that Rangers are in court regarding this matter and if they lose the case they are looking at administration. The administrator will look to claw back money using sellable assets. Therefore Jelavic, McGreggor, Davis, Naysmith, Lafferty etc, will probably all be sold to the highest bidders in the January fire sale.

IF it is PROVEN and IF there is a fire sale in January then MAYBE Celtic will win there first league championship for quite sometime but then again they've never done it on the pitch where it counts in the last 3 seasons so it would prove a very hollow victory indeed! Good luck!
Biglad
^^I reckon that's the best case scenario for Celtic This is quite true. The fact is, Celtic supporters need Rangers to go to the wall so they can bask in the glory of winning championships again, it has absolutely nothing to do with the fact Rangers may or may not have broken any laws, whatever they may tell you! Rangers are due in court this November defending a tax bill from 2001 to 2010 - where they are accused of paying players their salaries without paying tax i.e. 40% less than the going rate.If found guilty of tax evasion, then they will effectively be defrauding the British tax payer. Okay, so, if this is the 'real' reason you have such strong feelings about this case can I ask you a question? Have you ever paid someone ie a mechanic, joiner, painter, electrician to do a small job for you off the books and paid them in cash or is that something fo another thread? kirsty
You do not get the point. Rangers paid quite a few players between £30-£40K per week in order to sign them. This equates to approx £42 - £56k per week that they should have paid for these players. These players would never have signed for Rangers if they were offered the salaries agreed before tax. You seem to think it's alright to pay 40% less than the going rate, using an illeagal tax evasion scam. It is also worth noting that Celtic looked at this meathod in 2006 and the then Chairman Brian Quinn (ex Vice Chairman of the Bank of England) warned the board of the idea. Biglad
I totally get the point but do you get mine? Its the same thing, just take off those green shades for a moment! I notice you didn't answer my question so I'll take it as a 'yes' answer. If you're going to take the morale high ground then you must practise what you preach! Yeah, kirsty would probably claim that's Peanuts compared to the Rangers tax issue, but the principle is the same.

Are you saying that it acceptable for Rangers not to pay their tax bill? Seems unfair to me that every other team in Scotland is paying their fair share and not yours......... or has Ibrox got a special case?
