Ghostrider Posted October 26, 2007 Report Share Posted October 26, 2007 ^^^ I've always assumed it was from "lashing at", as in lashing horses with a whip to make them run faster in their work, as it's used to describe someone or something who/that is operating at a fast speed as if being driven up by a lash.
