PJ of Hildisvik
The main reasons this time are the ongoing tensions with Iran over the threat to block the Strait of Hormuz, also Nigeria. Brent crude stands at $113.33 per barrel a rise today of 1.60% Natural gas on the other hand was down today by 1.53%. Experts reckon on $200 a barrel if Iran blocks the Strait, no doubt if / when by this time we will be on the verge of war with Iran. BOOM goe's the whole Midddle East
daveh
Why is diesel so much more expensive than petrol now? Whereas petrol dropped a little, the diesel price has gone in the opposite direction.
PJ of Hildisvik
Diesel is more exoensive than petrol in the UK supposedly due to the lack of diesel refining sites. On continental Europe diesel is much cheaper than petrol. A haulier speaking on Radio 4 yesterday said when his trucks are in Luxembourg they fill with diesel costing 85p per litre When diesel gos up by a penny in this country, his fuel bill gos up by £700 per week !! daveh
Thanks. It is a bloody long way from Cunningsburgh to Luxembourg, though, to get the cheaper diesel. I thought that I was being prudent when we bought our diesel car but it seems not now.

jevans
I felt sorry for a fellow fuel pump attendee this week when his bill was £177.50, suddenly my gripes about the car costing £70 to fill disappeared, if he fills up as often as I need to, its nearly £700 a month! Crazy, when the hell will they get the idea
winner_
By the looks of things everyone is trying to save money by buying small cars and traveling at 40mph. This annoys me more than an extra few quid per tank fill..
