I get shetland stations ok but you get more if you look up the price of dieselbut that gives you some idea of the cost of Unleaded as well

JAStewart
I just heard that a barrel of oil reached $135 today. $135.
Fjool
The dollar is also pretty weak, which exaggerates things.
JAStewart
Well, the rise is still evident. Wasn't is 'amazing' that it got as high as $100 in February?

Medziotojas
It's not only the car you're running you should be worried about. An increase in fuel prices means an increase in all commodities (food, beer, flights, etc.)
KOYAANISQATSI
Mr Scott said he had no reason to doubt claims made this week that fuel in highlands-and in Shetland in particular- could be the most expensive in the world. If this is the case then going by the price compare map on page3, this means I've been getting filled up at the most expensive pump in the world after a 22 mile round trip to work for 6 bloody pound an hour, the same wage the salmon factorys have been paying for over the last 10 years. Even with tax free homers, things are getting tight. Even me vicounts have jumped from 79p to 99p
Medziotojas
6 bloody pound an hour, the same wage the salmon factorys have been paying for over the last 10 years. A mere 48p above minimum wage and not likely to change in the present climate until the minimum wage forces a pay rise ...and damn hard work too I may add. With soaring prices and wages remaining stagnant we're in for some tough times ahead; and a lot sooner than people are prepared for methinks. mogling
http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=3340274697167011147&hl=en The "Energy Non-crisis" video by Lindsey Williams. Interesting stuff. With regards to fuel prices, pensioners and younger people living on disability benefits up here who depend on their cars do not get any 'island allowance' or 'weighting', so have to pay a higher proportion of their income to get to medical appointments / get shopping / attend events etc. A lot of people here cannot take advantage of the 'door-to-door' public transport schemes available in other areas of the UK so really do depend on their own vehicles. I believe my tankful of petrol costs over £7 more than it did last year? Taking into account the abolition of the 10% Tax rate, my income has increased by the grand total of £1.39 a week. And the price of Everything has gone up.I am so glad we have a Socialist Government A couple of years ago I predicted a mass 'return tae da Hill'; saw a "Tushkar Wanted" notice in the local shop yesterday... "The Hills are alive... with the sound of midgie-bites!"{I believe Avon 'Skin So Soft' Oil spray works well as a midgie-deterrent?}
