What is going on with the Shetland fuel prices just now? it was below £1.40 a litre briefly (for petrol)... which wis fine, in comparison to the sprootle price it was... A 3p fuel duty rise in August has now been postponed (should be done away we completely!!!) since the announcement of the postponed 3p rise fuel prices per litre have risen 5p!!! before august has even come. so how the f**k are we coming ahead here? whats the bollox explanation for the 5p rise??????????????

you need to watch the 2 in town petrol stations as they can be up to 3p a leter more than the 2 on the Black Hill, its worth driving out to them now.

we hear they are not much profit on selling fuel but the 2 in town seems to adding a bit more profit than the others

Had a look at some Tesco pump prices, these range from 129.9 to 140.9 for petrol and 134.9 to 138.9 for diesel. These are all in Scotland and on the mainland.

I also noticed that none were in rural areas, most were on A roads or in and around large towns and cities.

There is little guarantee you will get cheaper pump prices by having the Tesco label, the chances are it will not be "Tesco fuel" but bought of an existing supplier. Imagine the cost of transporting fuel for one station from the Scottish mainland to Lerwick.

With Tescos profits flagging, there are also concerns they may not be offering too many discounts on fuel. They have been reported as saying they sell it for customer convenience and make very little, if any profit.

Diesel in Inverness on friday was 131.9 at Asda , we're up to 18 p per litre more (with our 5p discount from the gov.!)

WOW! Just think about that for a moment, that makes us 23p per litre more or £1.05 per gallon; on average more than £10 per tank full.

Stick with me on this. Assume about 10,000 vehicles in Shetland and each fills up on average every fortnight at £10 per tank more than they pay in Inverness. That means Shetland residents are paying £2.6million more per year for our fuel than residents of Inverness

Where do they get the 14% differential?

Just come back from Thailand where 'Super' unleaded fuel price in Bangkok is 73p / litre. Not only that, they fill your car, clean your windscreen and give you free gifts, usually bottles of water, eggs, rice etc etc. Sometimes welcome, sometimes not, but there nonetheless.

This carry on having to fill your own vehicle then being robbed is a joke!!
