Styles
HORIZONTue 5 Feb, 9:00 pm - 9:50 pm 50mins Website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/horizon/ Is Alcohol Worse Than Ecstasy? Horizon hits the drugs debate head-on as it examines the latest scientific evidence behind 20 of the country's most widely used drugs. A team of leading scientists has spent two years analysing the effects of these drugs and devising a scientifically rigorous, but controversial, new ranking for them. From alcohol to ecstasy, tobacco to LSD this programme looks at the science behind the headlines and asks what is Britain's most dangerous drug? Contains graphic scenes of drug use. This sounds like it will show the scientific truth instead of all the rubbish that is spouted by people which has no basis in reality or science. i will be watching. Bet Tobbaco and Alchohol are at the very top lot of being the worst drugs for you.
sheepshagger
And at number 1 we have smack, hardly a suprise to most of us.One quote our friendly neighbourhood mod might not like is "the vast majority of heroin users will not be able to use the drug safely". Enough said.
MuckleJoannie
Is Alcohol Worse Than Ecstasy? So it would seem. It's in at number 5 while ectasy is number 18. Incidentally Ronald Sandison who was interviewd about LSD was a pychiatrist in Shetland about 30 years ago.
Fjool
One quote our friendly neighbourhood mod might not like is "the vast majority of heroin users will not be able to use the drug safely".I assume you're referring to me. I have no argument with that statement; it is probably true. Do you have a point?
Medziotojas
So what came in 1st, 2nd, 3d, etc, after heroin and where did tobacco come in? Unfortunately I can't get Horizon here.

Tobacco was 9th i think. Heroin was first, cant mind the others order. It was good to see science being used instead of hysteria and myths to identify the dangers of each drug. just wish the government would look at reason instead of hersey. Styles
Just minded it was Heroin, Cocaine and Barbiturates as the top three.

Fjool
It's basically the same list as produced by the Science & Technology Select Committee report which I referred to a while back.
Frankie
The scientists on the programme said that the high you got from heroin was the equivalent to having an orgasm. If that's right, I can think of a hell of a lot safer and cheaper way of achieving that high than taking heroin. Evil Inky
The scientists on the programme said that the high you got from heroin was the equivalent to having an orgasm.Ah, but Mark Renton from Trainspotting famously described taking heroin thus: Take the best orgasm you've ever had... multiply it by a thousand, and you're still nowhere near it. Who are you going to believe, a scientist from off the telly, or a fictional junkie ?
