Here's my speed tonight. Not a lot better than it has been for weeks. I reckon BT better not put away the tool bag just yet.

They have put the tool bag away.

IMO it will only come out again if they think they can con Shetland to give BT a bag load of money and promise not to invest in alternative facilities.

Had some high ping issues recently but this takes the biscuit! Earlier it was 3.5 secs... I have turned off the router for 30 mins, and this is what i have now...

Here's mine, although I've no idea what the green numbers mean but look at the speed test!

Anyone else got issues with Plusnet on Sumburgh exchange?

It is one of those regular BT network issues - the type that BT does not publicly recognise as a fault. So when will it be fixed? This could be an undercover job - tell the punters nothing is wrong, whilst BT men work fiendishly to fix it before too many notice. OTH, probably nothing happening.

Affecting several exchanges and some lines harder than others.

Your ISP will likely say :

No line fault. (correct)

No exchange fault (correct)

Therefore, according to BT, must your fault. (wrong).

Quick edit! This is a reply to QuackQuack ;)

pretty rubbish :)

Using WinMTR I would suggest changing the interval to 5, in the options.

The numbers refer to the packets of data that are sent from you to your destination, in our case the BBC.

The journey goes in 'hops' from your computer to different computers and datacentres along the way. Simply, the number on the right hand side gives you how long a packet of info takes to get to that particular computer on the way. For me it's usually about 60ms on each hop.

The best average and worst are self explanatory. The % is the percentage packet loss you have... i.e. packets you Sent which never got to their destination, that were not Received.

Note if a node is down, say a datacentre is compromised, everything after that hop will be 100% packet loss (o received). If one hop is 0 received but the ones after it are fine, then the computer/datacentre has most likely been told not to respond to ping requests, and is nothing to worry about.

Probably someone has written a better explanation in the time I have written this!

Usually a router power off for 30 mins fixes this, but not today :(
