splodger
I've phoned them up and after many checks and lengthy chat the problem is probably the local exchange, I asked if I could have a number for whoever is responsible for the local exchange, they didn't have one?????????After another 2 calls I had to hang up as I was getting really angry and it's really not worth it. Am getting a new home hub even though I don't need one ?????? Will connect that tomorrow, leave it for the weekend then if still like it monday phone up as my BT Vision doesn't work at those speeds. If not resolved soon am tempted to switch, do Sky provide broadband here or not?
Njugle
^ Take it from one who's been there splodger, there is no easy way around this. The people responsible for fixing an excvhange fault are BT Outreach and there is no accessible way to contact them. Switching to another ISP will cure nothing as they still have to contact BT Outreach to make the repairs. Persistent calling may help things marginally but, if it is like the problem we had, only time and patience will count. It took two whole weeks to fix our exchange and we had no BB during that time! The interesting thing I found through it all was that the Indian call centres were actually more co-operative than the UK ones: BT wholesale and BT fault desk. Changed my whole BT world view it did. Got one due in the afternoon so will direct him/her to the local exchange and hopefully be back to normal soon. Will let you know how it goes sludgegulper, if you could do the same that would be good.

splodger
Engineer just left, he arrived around 13:30. He did loads of tests here and at local exchange and was on the phone loads to i'd guess a sort of head office. The problem is apparently on the mainland and bt are now aware of it so hopefully it will be fixed soon, hopefully that will resolve your problem too sludge but but i'm not holding my breath for either of us. Ghostrider
^^ The irony of it all is that I probably would have a faster line speed right now, had I stuck with dial-up and not been suckered in to buying this new fangled all singing all dancing broadband thingy.
