Andrew Manson aka peerie Bletty had the lot as a defender. Heading, tackling, passing with both feet and reading the game.

An inspirational player who took no turd from anyone.

Could have done an awful lot more with proper coaching.

Absolutely no doubt that the best player to be seen in Shetland was Moray Leask. Of all the players that have been mentioned from the last 20 years of shetland footbal only Neil Gray comes close.

Best current player in Shetland is Karl Williamson, strong as an ox and never gives the ball away. He was the main reason that Shetland grabbed gold last year at the games and doesn't get the paludits that he deserves, possibly because he has to sacrifice his own game for the sake of Whalsay in the local league.

Definitely agree with that. He's a class act.

Don't agree with that, having played with him at Shetland Level since U-11's I know the class of player he is, especially after returning from Aberdeen/Brechin. He filled out physically after that. But the main reason for the Shetland Team win was the preperation and maybe a lot to do with the fact of being on home soil, the lift the players got, it will be intersting to see how the do in Rhodes.

Most influential player in that team was probably Monty or Ross Jamieson.

Nah, they struggled really badly when Karl wasn't there. Obviously being at home was a factor, but he was the most important individual for me.
