RickB
Well its that nearly that time of year again. Whats everyone doing?Flints are open till 1am on the 31st (which I thought was a joke but the staff have confirmed it). The Legions open and no doubt Da Wheel will be open. Anyone know where else? JAStewart
I'm glad this year I'm going to a party with all my mates in Waas. Sick of the anti-climatic Toon and the infinitely endless search for a party.
khitajrah
I think I'm getting old but the thought of staying up to midnight these days just seems impossible to me!
Styles
Its is allways an antie climax, especially now that i can stay up all night any weekend, such a build up for such a let down
DamnSaxon
At least everyone north of Hadrian's Wall gets an extra bank holiday to get over the "night before". And, this time round, an extra weekend after that, which could make for a pretty extravagant celebrtion (with a bit of planning).
tarotangel
I've never been to the Cross either been in Bressa or at a party. We had a great New Year last year and got to bed about 8am. If we dinna hae anyone in by about 2/3 we usually go first fiitting wirsels.
man of kent
The old routine was the Lounge bar until 10:00 pm, the Planets until 11:30 pm the cross for midnight, half bottles at the ready and kiss as many local girls as you could get your lips on, off first footing to anyones house who had a light on, off to bed at some point, up for dinner with the family, then all of us males would be off out first footing again. Lovely, if Lerwick is quite these days, then someone is doing something wrong, or do too many people congregate at Da Cross too often to make New Year special. Why has the Brass Band given up? Probably want to celebrate with the rest of us. Happy New Year to you all when it comes!
tirvaluk
The problem with the cross is the crowd are getting younger every year, very few over 18s.
