Granted Grohl is one hell of a front man but the soul just isn’t there for me anymore. Kurt was a far better lyricist and played with 110% conviction, Nirvana was never contrived and always sporadic whereas The Foos seem too polished and too well produced. The Foos also seem to just take the piss the whole time (which was funny at first but now is getting pretty boring). The only real songs that come close to the same sincerity that Nirvana had are Stacked Actors and Everlong. Still, Dave Grohl is a very nice man and his band still rock harder than most of the music coming out today. He has done exceptionally well to have made his own mark and not simply remembered as ‘that drummer from Nirvana’. Not an easy task when Kurt Cobain was the singer in your old band.
