Does anyone know if the dog training classes are still going on in Dunrossness?

I heard there was a class on on Tuesday nights at Dunrossness Hall, 7.30pm. I went along last week but it seemed to be a computer class that was taking place.

Any info gratefully recieved as I have a dog in need of training!

Gem, I've had dogs all my life, you don't need to go to training classes (although the socialising can be good, for both you and the dog) just treat them like you would treat bairns, and they'll be fine.

Thanks for your replies.

I have managed to find out that the classes resume on 8th January.

I agree that you can train a dog without going to classes, but it is the socialisation that I am hoping will be of help.

I rehomed a large nine month old labrador recently. He is lovely in every way, and has reponded well to training. Only problem is that he gets over-excited and jumps up on people when he meets them. Due to his size, this is not good. I need some willing volunteers to ignore him when he jumps up and speak to him when he is calm. A dog training class is the best place for this as the other dog owners have the understanding and the confidence to be able to do this.

So we will see what January brings!
