Pooks
Good to see the Folk Festival embracing new technology. I, unfortunately, haven't been able to make it for the past couple of years but I hope to pull me socks up and get the FF membership again this year. Mhari P
Just a quick reminder to any Shetlinkers who may be into the Folk Festival - the deadline for SFFS receiving advance membership applications is 29th February. You can download the form from our website www.shetlandfolkfestival.comAdvance members get the programme/ticket booking form sent to them prior to being made available to all (this year, we plan to post out advance member programmes on the 14th March. The form will be available to all from the 4th April). UPDATELe Vent du Nord from Quebec are also now playing the Festival (yippee) - that's increased the number of countries we have represented in the visiting line up to 9. Actually, come to think of it - its 10 countries cos we have the Kråkebolle band from Oslo playing as a session band (Mark Laurenson and some Norwegian friends!). There's a couple of other further additions which you'll find out when you get the programme (or when I get around to updating the website's visiting artist page!) Cheers fur noo Mhari

Mhari P
That's Thursday Festival Club Concert and the Friday Legion Sold out now tooQuite a few of the unsold out concerts only have a handful of tickets left (so you have been warned!). The Festival shop opens at 5 Burns Lane this Thursday 6-8pm and will be open again on Saturday 12noon-3pm (you can also download the booking form from www.shetlandfolkfestival.com) To my amazement, there are still some tickets left for the big gig at the Clickimin on the Friday night for the Peatbog Faeries and Fullsceilidh Spelmannslag. For those of you not familiar with the Peatbogs - they are extremely lively and put on an impressive show (although, be warned, it will be loud!)There are plenty of clips of them on youtube (here's one from Celtic connections this year) Also, there are still tickets left to see Andy McKee up in Hillswick Over 13 million hits now on youtube! You can also catch him at Mid Yell. You can still get tickets for the Saturday Clickimin Concert too but the Sunday night is virtually sold out. Okay, plug over Mhari
Mhari P
All Foys (including Clickimin) now sold out So too has Mid Yell (Fri) and Whiteness and Weisdale (Sat). So if you haven't got your tickets yet, on Thursday your only choice is now the Salsa dance night in the Shetland Hotel! On Friday, the only tickets remaining are for the Peatbogs/Fullsceilidh Spelemannslag gig at the Clickimin. On Saturday, tickets are left for Fetlar, Hillswick, the Shetland Concert and Dance at Islesburgh and the "worldy" concert at the Clickimin. On Sunday, tickets are remaining for the singing concert and the afternoon Legion concert. The Clickimin concert on Saturday is the only remaining concert that you'll be able to catch the Mongolian band Hanggai - coming all the way from Beijing just for the Shetland Folk Festival.Check out this clip of Hanggai performing with Bela Fleck! sags
A splendid version of the rednex "Cotton Eye Joe" ^^^ do they do any other classic drinking songs in Chinese, I'm hoping for "Jolene" or even " I am a cider drinker" Good on the folk festival for widening the net, it'll be a great weekend as always!
