Arthur Whist
Good evening, My name is Arturo, I'm posting from Valencia (Spain) because I have a beautiful story that I would love to share with you as it is very important for me and I think you might find it interesting. In 2014, I was going through a tough personal moment in my life and, in an attempt to escape from my own harmful thoughts, fears and insecurities, I decided that I needed to get some fresh air and travel to the most remote place I could find in my map. I always wanted to travel to Scotland, as I think it is one of the most beautiful places on Earth, so when I spotted a distant archipelago between the Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea called The Shetland Islands, I instantly knew that was going to be my destination. After a couple of days travelling, I ended up in Unst, the most northerly island in Shetland. As soon as I arrived, I fell in love with the place. Somehow, I felt a very strong and deep connection with that beautiful land, as if I had been there before, as if I belonged to that place. It is very hard to explain, but something changed inside me, it did forever, I could clearly feel that there was something way bigger than my rational understanding going on there. I spent some weeks there on my own, exploring, climbing, taking long walks to nowhere and observing local wildlife. It was a time for me to deeply reconnect with nature and myself That trip to Unst and the Shetlands was truly a life changing experience for me. I went there trying to get lost and I ended up finding myself. I made two promises to myself, the first one is that I would come back to that magical place again at some point in my life (I haven’t done that yet). The second one is that I wanted to talk about that experience which was so important for me and share it with the world and that is what I’ve done the best way I know which is through music. So, I wrote a song about it, which is called Unst and is now available worldwide. Unst is a peaceful jazz /cinematic song about reconnecting with nature and the important things in life in an increasingly chaotic and stressed society which seems to have lost its way. I hope that this song can help other people who are struggling and going through a tough moment in life and bring them some hope and peace. I don’t know if I was able to capture the beauty and magical energy of such an amazing island in a song, after all, I’m just a Valencian guy who just fell in love with a distant place miles away from his hometown and who’s trying his best to make some music, putting a lot of work, love and passion to it so, hopefully, someday I can reach more people, besides my mother, my dog and the neighbour (which are pretty much my main and only audience xD) Anyway, I just wanted to share this story with you, because I thought you might find it interesting, in the meantime, I keep dreaming of coming back to Unst someday and maybe shoot a music video there for my song, that would be amazing. Below you can find some links to listen to the song on Spotify and YouTube and also some social links. Arfski
What a lovely post and beautiful song! I live on Unst and all my family on my mother's side are from the comunidad Valenciana. Valencia and Benetússer is my second home, my favourite pass time is to walk all the way into town and sit in the Plaça de l'Ajuntament at the Café & Tapas for a coffee and croissant in the morning and watch the tourists and world go by.
