JAStewart
Well it closed tonight. I followed it from 8am this morning! I was obviously hoping to see Káka or Messi on their way to the Bridge but alas twas not to be. Anyway, It looks like the most expensive transfer, as expected () was from the Chelsea boys but there were a few other high profile signings too. A select few Nicolas Anelka to Chelsea, £15 million (from Bolton)Afonso Alves to Middlesborough, £12 million (from Heenerveen)Alan Hutton to Tottenham, £9 million (from Rangers)Gilberto to Tottenham, £9 million (From Hertha BSC)Jonathan Woodgate to Tottenham, £7 million (from Middleborough)James MacFadden to Birmingham, £5 million (from Everton)Jermaine Defoe to Portsmouth, £Undisc, (from Tottenham) So... what did we all think? I was partially gutted that Hutton left Scotland but I guess its onwards and upwards!(?) Full list of transfers since september (this includes loans and free transfers)
Mini
May I wish Hutton all the best in his future endeavours. He's definately deserved his move to the EPL - pushed or not - and I look forward to seeing his swashbuckling runs on Match Of The Day in the coming weeks. Stoichkov
Who do you think will be the biggest successes and the biggest flops?I think Anelka and Woodgate (pending fitness) and Defoe are probably the best moves.I think Hutton might do ok for spurs but is not worth £9m.Marlon King and Afonso Alves to be the biggest flops. JAStewart
Pretty much right there Stoichkov. Anelka has already scored for Chelsea and is playing well for it, he looks better than Drogba right now.Woodgate will do great if he can stay on the pitch and not in the injury room.I think that Hutton's transfer is about right.Marlon King will be a flop: "If you buy players from the championship, thats where you'll end up" - Mark LawrensonAlves however might do well for Boro, only time will tell.
