earlofzetland
Does anyone know what the hold baggage weight for flying with Loganair is these days and how much they charge for being overweight
JustMe
Loganair's website quotes 15kg (+ cabin bag) and £10 for extra bags if space permits. However a through ticket with British Airways has a higher allowance which I think is 23kg.

Brink
I thought I had read that Loganair allowed 2 pieces of hand baggage. Found out not true when I checked in. They let me off by sorta squishing one inside the other, but I wouldn't bank on it.

JustMe
Interesting to see that Loganair's partner airline from October (Flybe) offers a 20kg luggage allowance in economy class so maybe we will get a higher allowance with Loganair. penfold
^ I wouldn't have thought so as the aircraft that loganair are operating are going to remain the same after they hook up with Flybe.
BritishAirwaysABZ
To clarify BA franchise with Loganair will end on 25 OCT. Loganair will Fly as Flybe on 26 OCT therefore baggage will be charged as Flybe use Handling agents and not own staff thank you
penfold
Why does it cost more for baggage from the 26th due to flybe using handling agents? Surely most of the low cost airlines use handling agents as it is CHEAPER than employing their own staff directly? Surely it is a way to make money through extra charges on a service they run on tight profit margins? EG fly to Southhampton for £5!!!!!! (not including taxes) and only if you book six-months in advance, use a debit card dont want to check in your hold luggage or choose your own seat, or ask for any inflight catering, or any of the other things that people had come to take for granted as included in the more "EXPENSIVE" fares that BA charge on their routes not covered by ADS. The 20kg allowance is only applicable on the Mainland.Loganair's allowance just now is 1 peice of hold baggage at 15kg and 1 piece of hand baggage at 6kg.This will remain the same when the franchise with Flybe begins. The difference being is if you go over your allowances with Flybe, you will be charged for excess baggage. If your 1 piece of hold baggage goes over 15kg, you will be charged £10.If you have a 2nd bag for the hold, you will be charged £10, and it will only go on the plane if there is space available. If your hand baggage goes over the 6kg limit, and is too big for the cabin, it will go in the hold, and therefore be charged as hold baggage at £10.I think we are getting away lightly as on the mainland if you go over your allowance, you are charged £9 per kg that you are over!Hope this helps people
sharalee99
Forgot to say, the above rules apply if your journey is to Glasgow, Kirkwall, Inverness, Aberdeen and Edinburgh. If you have a connecting flight with Flybe, from any of the above airports and it is shown on your booking from Shetland, your allowance is 20kg. If you have a connecting flight with BA, your allowance will be 23kg.
Carlos
Could be worth getting one of those £5 onward flights and not using it.... instead of paying £10 for a heavier bag.....
engineer21
Also how heavy till they say no?? i mean if ur 16kg so u get charged a tenner but what if ur bags are 25kg? they still be ok with that still only costs a tenner? and would still be cheaper than shipping stuff ferry!!
