clanchief
Kinda spooky that recent posts have been dated Saturday 25th!! & as far as I am aware this is still only Friday- maybe not Another loch that spooks folk is Winyadeppla in Fetlar. I mind Brian Watt telling me that he had to get out of it one summer night when the hairs on the back of his neck started lifting.

Njugle
They always seem tae be there, well, recently anyway. I think it would be good tae try and collect as many stories as possible (aboot windhoose and further afeild) and maybe get them hosted online, maybe on Shetlink? Exactly the kind of thing we are aiming for in a round about way, as mentioned in the largely ignored Shetland folklore thread. But if we get a few stories then hopefully we can compile something worth it's own web-pages
Guest Anonymous
about 10 years ago me and a pal went out for a drive to the west side, after seeing an ad in the paper for a car. On the way back we stopped off at Park Hall. Me pal used to go there for his holidays when he was peerie. We went in for a look - the door was half open. It was a lovely day, very calm. As soon as we went through the front door of the house, it almost felt we were walking into a fridge, it was a really chilly feeling. We had a look around, there was lots of old clothes, shoes, books and other stuff lying about. Part of the ceiling had come down in one place, there was mould and green nile over everything. All of a sudden the front window smashed from the inside out. We were both standing next to each other and couldn't believe what had happened. I got this feeling of a horrible shiver going right through me - we beat a hasty path to the door and got the f**k out of there! When we got outside we had a look at the broken glass and it was lying at least three feet away from the house. Now explain that.
Yowe
I think I had a bad experience in that house - if I have the right one - I canna go into it but it was the creepiest house I have ever been in - it felt like there was a malevolent spirit in there.I've just remembered a very unpleasant dream I had while I was living there. It was extremely vivid and basically involved some kind of violent but invisible force dragging me down the bed and dumping me on the floor. I woke up screaming and it was hard to believe it was just a dream.
Ghostrider
Some folk would tell you things have been seen/felt around Sumburgh Airport, all very vague in descriptions and origins though, some put it down to casualties of the late 80's Chinook and/or '79 Dan Air HS 748 crashes, while others opt for casualties of WWII German air attack. So I'm pretty much tempted to put it down to wind ups and fanciful yarns, but maybe someone else knows better. Personally, I put in over a year there, several times the only human inside the Airport boundaries, bar the watch in the Met Office, and well in to the night, but never encountered anything more unearthly than hordes of rabbits. Guest Anonymous
Noo den Dis is the subconcious of the big G, hits nearly da witchin hour, and do I have a story to tell! Whar do you start, probably at the beginning. We would need to identify the year, location and characters. Perhaps give some background on the building, maybe even name the ghoul. All I can disclose is that it was indeed 1989....and yes, the shop in question was Gair and Smiths (three floors under one roof, said the sibc advert at the time) Peerie Bryan, i'll be back on Monday night, n weel continue da tale den. Am aaful blyde you enjoyed it Even more enjoyable than when i sent it to my brother at his work email address, where i knew he listened to music on his pc with headphones (can you imagine!) during the day. I dare say i made his workmates' days when he convulsed himself clean out of his chair for no apparent reason. Great.
Njugle
Anyway back to the serious stuff. I've heard tell of a crofthouse which is possibly in Baltasound but definitely in Unst, where a guy was lodging once and awoke to find the room he was sleeping in completely changed and i think there was someone or something in the room with him. Anyway he got the fright of his life and attempted to leave and exited through what appeared to be a door, but had been converted to a window in recent years, hence, he exited through the window, much to his surprise. ie. he accurately described seeing the room as it had been decades before he was there. It's a while since i heard this tale, but if anyone has heard tell of it (especially, you north islers) otherwise, i'll see if i can get the whole story from the guy who told me.
