khitajrah
Are there ants in Shetland? I've been here 9 years and have never seen one, but yesterday in the Co-op I noticed Ant Killer next to the barbeque stuff.
Njugle
aka 'mooritoogs' Yep, you do, it's just that Shetland ants are nice little critters and keep themselves to themselves. I rarely or never see them around the garden really, but you do find them in the hills amongst the heather and elsewhere.
MaxFusion
yep, only ever seen them in the peat hill red ants....and they sting too!! http://www.the-piedpiper.co.uk/th3b.htm MF

McMess
You can find them around the top of stony beaches too. Watch out if you're sitting among any foliage or undergrowth - I nearly got bitten to death at Fladdabister years ago, minding my own business sitting at the top of the beach. Funnily enough, I didn't realise there were ants in Shetland... until then
Medziotojas
yesterday in the Co-op I noticed Ant Killer next to the barbeque stuff. I wouldn't have thought it was one of their best selling products. As an aside, we sprinkle used coffee grounds in our greenhouse to keep down on the ants over here.
