Guest Anonymous
^^^The Maritime Museum is a great rainy day thing. Some of the exhibits would certainly be interesting to kids, both young and old. Also, at feeding time, the Pizza Hut in the middle of Union St, just above the railway line, is great for kids. Good grub, reasonable price.
khitajrah
Things to do in Aberdeen: Get back on the boat to Shetland! What a scary place, the mainland, with all those bustling folk! ~cringe~

Fjool
^ Already listed Codonas! As for the rest...can't really take kids out to clubs and pubs, Twerto... especially not the ones you were trying to drag everyone too, from what I hear
MJ
I know you've heard me enthuse about Newton Dee a thousand times before, but it's wonderful for the kids, the toys in the shop I know both you're kids would love (not a video game in sight). If you give me a phone I could get you the full tour round the organic farm. There's the botanical gardens (I'm sure my mother must have dragged you in there) and the museum in the Zoological building. Seaton Park is also a good place to spend with the kids and the guys with the kites down by the donmouth will usually let folk have a go.Arts Centre has good (cheap) Art & Drama workshops on most days if you're looking for free time without children, City Moves does good Dance workshops. If using Bluebird buses to travel round outside of Aberdeen ask about Group Travel Tickets. In Aberdeen on FirstAberdeen Buses If you're doing even Single journeys now if there's four of you it's cheaper to get a family ticket.A Day trip to Stonehaven is a good one, the beach is good, nice tea rooms, lovely harbour and some famous fish and chips. The open air pool if you're feeling brave. Recommend doing the train there (It ticks the train box for kids) but doing the bus back as the station's a mile up hill from town centre. They've got a good sweetshop too says the bairn. If you had the car then it's got to be catterline for one of the northeast's best fish restaurants.Hire some bicycles from alpinebikes and cycle the northdeeside line out to banchory. My brother used to do it often when staying out our way (and you know how unfit he is), there are plenty of cafes along the way (including newton dee)
MJ
Just got trouble - go see a show! HMT do some great bargain ticket and the bairn's drama company are doing sweeny todd 17-19th July in the Arts Centre.
Fjool
Glad to report that neither the Beach Leisure Centre, nor 'Satrosphere' were closed; both lots of fun, and the children enjoyed them thoroughly.
Pooks
'Satrosphere', 'Stratosphere', 'whateverophere'. I really hope it was better than when I was there. To be fair it looked as if it was going through a makeover but they hadn't bothered to shut it to the public while they did so. Hopefully a far better experience for you. Fjool
Yeah, I was confused at first... thought someone had switched the sign around or something but No... it's Satrosphere after all The kids loved it and even my wife and I were quite entertained for the better part of two hours. I guess it would depend on how interested one was in the general theme, and on the age of the children involved, but overall I thought it was a good experience. The Wikipedia entry suggests that it has moved locations at some point, so maybe you caught it at a bad time.

Guest Jonathan
The schooner shut down (i'd say i'm afraid but god it was dire!) Plenty of others in the area to choose from instead mind. If you're looking for some place to keep the party going into the wee small hours their are a number of good casinos now open, my pick would be the one next to soul on union street (can't remember the name as I havent been there since last year)
MJ
It's been bought up, had heard another woodsider had got the job of managing it, but no sign of it opening yet. But then listening to gossip in the white horse and believing it can be hazzardous to health.

Same building but you go in the side entrance. (Not that I would know! Ahem...) Just remember that although the boozing may well continue until after 5AM it will be costly. Decide to flutter a few quid and it will be even more costly.
