sannicktonman
Shetland away to Fort William who finished bottom of Highland League last season - played 28 won 1, lost 27, goals for 16, goals conceded 158, points 3. Surely a game Shetland can (must) win?
sannicktonman
The competition is called the SFA Challenge Cup and ties are due to be played on 9th August. Can anyone from Shetland Football Association confirm that date?
JAStewart
Gutted, I was hoping I'd be at Uni when they were playing.
trumptonriots
Certainly a game they could and should win. Downside...If they are coming down on the boat on a Friday night then it's going to be a nightmare getting to Fort William in time for a 3pm kick off...plus it will be impossible to get back to catch the ferry. Upside....an overnight stay in Fort William wouldn't be too bad....plenty of good nightlife
EISTnWAST
Upside.........easiest tie possible. Downside.........lose this one and there will be little chance of being allowed to enter Highland League competitions again in the future. trumptonriots
Unlike our local journalistic outlets, at least these guys find the story newsworthy.... http://www.ngrfoundation.co.uk/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=18424&Itemid=
jag1984
Through a few folk down in Aberdeen I've heard that Fort William were seriously struggling for players this year and were lucky not to get kicked out of the league. Some players they ended up taking on were of sub-standard level, especially for a highland league team and actually one of the players played for the Uni and he was rubbish! Needless to say he didn't last very long for us or them! Shetland should win this, even if they have to come down Friday
JohanofNess
The missus doesn't like it very much but I'll be driving across from Aberdeen to see them play

JAStewart
Well, if it is a day before or after this gig I'm going to in Edinburgh at the Fringe I could probably make it..

Me and the missus are going but we'll need at least another 5 to turn up to start the mexican wave.
trumptonriots
I will be driving through from Aberdeen too. If there was sufficient interest it may even be possible to look into hiring a bus...picking up in Inverness en route. Ten seater mini bus from Arnold Clark would cost about £250 (self-drive) while a 30 or 53 seater bus would likely cost around £600 with driver. JohanofNess
Be an idea for those interested in going but without transport from Aberdeen to make themselves known and they can maybe get a lift off folk with spare room in their cars. I'll probably be driving there on Saturday morning and staying overnight in Fort William.
