clanchief
Did you write up a report for the Shetland Times sports pages about your trip to Dover? It would be good publicity for shore angling - you could also add in a bit about your bank league idea
jannjulie
Great result liam - top fishing - well done in Dover. I have been getting a lot of dabs, and some ling and doggies, and a reasonable number of mackerel here and there. The cod numbers in H are well down as several fish were killed last winter - hopefully a few of the cod will go back and the stock will build up again- the stock is very small and fragile and needs all the help it can get. Catch and release is an investment in the future - it woudl be a shame if the stock was wiped out as its a great place to have a fun session for a few hours when the weather is too bad for the coast. Not really interested in competitions as too many fish are killed - been there, done that 30 years ago. even when you return the fish a percentage dont make it, especially the piltocks for some reason - doesnt seem to take much to kill them. circle hooks are very good for lip hooking the flatties so that they can go back unhurt. jan quote="peterliam"]so, have u been doing any shore fishing this year? hellisters back to its old ways again, but the 6lb pilticks are still not around in great numbers, i went last weekend camping, during night had about 30 pilticks from 2lb - 4lb , and a few flounders, a couple of eels, oh and a small cod about 5lb ill speak to you when im back from the home international in dover cheers liam
