Nobody seems to have asked the vital question yet, So I will. Where has the money he got from the gull.... "oops sorry" ;) His supporters gone ?

He says on his site he designed and built the boat to reach Forew (sorry) Forvik but if you take one look at it you wouldn't trust it on a duck pond!

Seasoned sailor my a ;)

Did he ever get his.....ummm...."boat"....hockit oot idda Kirk Saund o' Paupa Stoor?

It was sitting proud and engine-less last i saw it on the Kirk Sands. Dug oot and ready to go.

He is using a slightly worn fibreglass 'normal' boat in the meantime.

I've heard, from a pretty reliable source, that he tried to get back to Forwick sometime last week, and strted to drift, this time he called some friends to help so that he didn't incur the wrath of the public again! Oh, this was also done at night so that no-one could see him cross.....

... pictures of his house ... in the style of an upturned boat

The house design is, for me, the first sign of any common sense. Though it may seem unorthodox, it ought to be a very effective structure.

Nevertheless, as crofter says, being lightweight it will need to be well anchored.

From his blog:

"there was only superficial damage and none of the general looseness I was expecting. I was glad I'd built her so strong."

I have to admit I had a good chuckle at his "Sponsor A Tree" bit, about possibly establishing a forest on Forewick Holm (let's try to use the real name).

I think he might be better to invite sponsors of coastal defenses/house defenses before the first real southwest storm of the winter, as I have a suspicion that the sea breaks over the holm sometimes. Perhaps someone local to the area can confirm that suspicion ???

I think he should 'liberate' some o yun muckle breakwater at the new ferry ramp on Papa, it's dat big nae body wid notice. If he sneaked off with aboot 3000 ton of it to Forewick he wouldna have to worry much about the forthcoming S-W-erlies. Nor we aboot him.

He'd need a bigger boat though.
