Allegedly, from Radio Latrine, the Land Rover was towed up there specifically (as it is undriveable under its own steam) for and on behalf of Captain Calamity by a Sandness associate of his.

I suppose he wants his day in Court.

Nobody can really take Stuart Hill seriously? even if he somehow proves that shetland is seperate then think of the implications...No National Health Service, No Police Force, No Fire Services, No Government support (as an Isle of Crofters and fishermen Subsibies are paramount in survival) etc

Also even more paramount for Stuart Hill himself no H.M Coastguard.......

Hill has taken a very serious subject, one which deserves to be examined and argued out thoroughly, and which could have both positive and negative permanent ramnifications for Shetland's future, and turned it in to one massive joke. Anybody now and for decades to come that tries to seriously address issues like devolution and independence is going to have to work countless times as hard to get anywhere, and put up with endless cheap "Calamity" jibes.

I am aware that in his own mind he is positively pursuing the cause of debating Shetland's status as higher levels, but in my mind his antics now are doing more to ensure that such a debate never happens, or if it does it will be turned in to a farce because of his stunts.

Shetland and Shetlanders have been on the wrong end of many dirty dealings by Governments and those who could get away with it because they knew that either the government would back them up, or at least not pursue it. Its up to us, the Shetlander's of today to decide whether we let bygones be bygones, accept today's status and work towards an improved future, or whether we, if it is possible, pursue and put to rights as best as possible the wrongs of the past. Credit to Hill where its due for bringing the subject and debate back in to the public arena from dormancy, but beyond that, he should leave well be, as he's doing more harm than good.

While he was droning on in hired halls to the few that were bothered to go and listen, churning out reams of print, and shouting and dancing on a holm in the lee of Papa it was one thing to humour and tolerate him, there was only so much aggro one guy in such circumstances could generate. He's now crossed a line and is taking his stunts to random times and places among the rest of us, that in my mind is going to far, he neither has the right, mandate, or proven support to do such things. What he does on his own property is his business, what he does in hired halls is between him and said Hall Committee's, what he does on the public highway is everyone's business. I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm certainly not for old crangs covered in "notices" being dumped at random locations on the road on the Shetland Mainland, or anything similar he may try.

Well he is going to be on the ITV Sunday night 9pm. and that small fact means I wont be watching it. A program that might have been of some use about Shetland spoiled by this numpty who brings it down to the level of the Father Ted episode where they Freak pointing. Shetland could have.
