braveheart
in my eyes there only one winner, he has been da driving force in the delting and shetland midfield and made a mug of many of the top players in the league ladies and gentlemen mr alan duncan
BALLACK
He's a great player. Future Shetland Captain. He will win 2008 Shetland player of the year. Is he signed for any highland league side for the 2008/2009 season?
braveheart
dont know you have to ask him, good to see more than one person thinks this if someone else wins it will be daylight robbery i cant think of anybody who has come close this season
BALLACK
People think Delting will just fade away but with Alan Duncan in the side that will simply not happen. The scary thing is he's only 23. He should be playing south to see what level he can reach. 1.Alan Duncan.2.James Johnstone.3.Karl Williamson. glenn
Alan has got a job on mainland so this year was the last we'll see of him for a while at least. Would hope to think he'll continue to play south but it's not a particulary attractive proposition when you're working full time (i.e. three times a week travel, motorway's, etc). He would be my pick for player of the year followed by Ross Moncrieff and Karl Williamson.

The scary thing is he's only 23. He should be playing south to see what level he can reach. He has played South. He was a reserve for Huntly. Leighton Flaws, James Johnston and Karl Williamson have all played regularly at a higher level than Alan has.
braveheart
well they may all have played at a higher level but alan duncan has played better week in and out thats why he should be player of the year but 3 players mentioned have had good seasons also why is there no young player of the year seems a bit odd
Stoichkov
Has Alan Duncan played a full season this year? I thought he'd only been playing this past month or so with the Shetland games and cup finals for Delting, i thought he was away for most of the summer. I would say James Johnston or Ross Moncrieff deserve player of the year this season.
plaguestorm
I know everybody loves goals and step overs for player of the year but here's my 10 pence worth. Can anybody tell me of a forward in Shetland who has had the better of Merv Jamieson? Nobody might notice a defender but in the times i've seen Delting it's like men against boys for most of Shetland forwards. Probably can't look outside Delting for the POTY title though. Pity. Baxter
james johnstoneross moncreiffmatthew saunders (got to give him credit, as well as letting in many goals he has been pretty good for yell)
plaguestorm
....for the Best Player in Shetland this year??? That would be the equivalent of giving the best player in England last year to Roy Carroll at Derby.
Baxter
well u need t think ootside the box sometimes. plus he has made some terrific performances. It's pretty poor that he isnt in the shetland squad t b honest

Forget Alan Duncan, Ross Moncrieff etc.................The Yell keeper deserves to be 2008 shetland player of the year. He only conceded 117 goals in the League and his team finished bottom of the table with 0 points.
