PJ of Hildisvik
Great Britain is officially the most crowded country in Europe, according to Radio 4 today195 people per sq kilometre on average, all i can see out of my kitchen window are 195 assorted birds per sq metre! and no people thank christ for that! PJ of Hildisvik
OOPS!, that should read 395 people per sq kilometre not 195, also the population of England alone is expected to increase by 10 million in 25 yrs, and 17% of that will be immigrants!Seven new Birmingham size cities will need to be built, WHERE???They have two choices IMHO, drastically curb immigration or reclaim the Southern North Sea. Guest Anonymous
What if England buys Forvik from Mr Hill? That would help a little...
Njugle
all i can see out of my kitchen window are 195 assorted birds per sq metre! It was that quote that had me wide-eyed, sounds like something out of Hitchcock! Unless 'birds' is being used as a slang term, which presents an altogether different image. You're not Elvis by any chance are you?
PJ of Hildisvik
Well not quite 195 birds, yes they are the feathered type ,unfortunately. But i do have 40 rock doves, countless starlings, around 80 sparrows, and 9 blackbirds in the garden every morn when i feed them bloody expensive birdseed! On UK land shortage, i bet Calamity wished he'd own a piece of land the size of Forvik in central London, that would be worth Zillions, wonder how much Forvik is actually worth? Guest posiedon
Great Britain is officially the most crowded country in Europe,Just a minor correction , but I believe they were refering to England, rather than Great Britain. PJ of Hildisvik
Yep it's England, not Britain, some radio stations were using both earlier.Wonder how long before the rest of the UK joins in?, perhaps everybody will buy property in Spain, it is still cheaper, just! Rasmie
I thought our populations were falling and aging. Not long ago GB was telling we would have to import workers just to keep the place running. (we probably need fresh blood now anyway) Only place I've heard of population booming is Sandwick with all the immigrants from Lerwick and Scalloway! JAStewart
Didn't Gordon Brown say that he wanted to build 5 new cities? England does have plenty of rural countryside where they could fit it in, but I would hate to live in a place with literally no history.

paulb
but once you have built it you have history. every bit of the uk has about 10000 years history. think every bit of soil will have a bit of dead body in it thats enough history for me. Spinner72
No need to worry about overcrowding, the Bilderberg peoples have it all in hand : The film itself is a dramatic take for sure, but ultimately very difficult to dissagree with. Highly reccomended viewing.
Nigel Bridgman-Elliot
Is there room to build a new city here ? I wouldn't mind building say a small town with a population of around 10,000 but would a new town be welcomed anywhere in the UK ? (Here strikes me so far as perhaps the only place that would welcome it! any objections ?)
