Medziotojas
That's what I thought, but when I poceeded to the check-out and entered my delivery address I was informed that Amazon would not deliver to this country.
Ghostrider
^^ I suspect as a private company Amazon are perfectly entitled to pick and choose whatever countries to deliver, or not deliver to, as they please, regardless of whether the EU exists or not, or what the EU may say. paulb
thought there was a rule that said a person in one country should be treated the same as a person in another.
Ghostrider
^^ If there is one covering undertaking the safe delivery of goods its openly ignored, all sellers, regardless of size or whether business or private on ebay are asked which countries within Europe (if any) they are prepared to deliver to, EU member or not is only of minimal relevance. Malachy
I have been having the same problem as BigMouth - increasing numbers of Marketplace sellers refusing to send books or cds to Shetland. I contacted Amazon and got this reply, which might be helpful: Greetings from Amazon.co.uk We have been reported a technical glitch in our system, which prevents customers living outside Mainland UK, such as Northern Ireland and Shetland Islands in ordering goods from Marketplace sellers. Therefore, if you experienced the same issue with placing an order for items which are not listed on delivery restrictions and therefore should be available for delivery to an address on Shetland Islands, please contact us back with name of the item (or Amazon catalogue number - ASIN) and name of the seller that you are trying to order from so we can look into this further. For more information on delivery restrictions please follow this link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?ie=UTF8&nodeId=524836&qid=1225562919&sr=1-1 As far as books, CDs and DVDs there should be no problem in delivering these goods to an address on Shetland Islands. However, please be advised that the delivery address for Baby, Jewellery & Watches, Shoes & Accessories and Sports & Leisure may only be mainland UK (excluding P.O. boxes or BFPO addresses, Shetlands, Orkney, some areas of Perthshire and some of the Channel Islands). If you need to contact us in the future, you can reach us on UK freephone 0800 496 1081 or via email http://www.amazon.co.uk/email
BigMouth
Thanks Malachy. That's very useful. I spoke to their call centre and was offered a voucher, but I rejected it advising them that would only be useful for one purchase and that I wanted them to sort out the situation for all of my purchases. Malachy
Yes, it sounds like they're aware of the problem, so hopefully they'll be able to sort it out.
BigMouth
I am glad to say that it looks like it has been sorted out. I have just ordered two items from vendors that I know were willing to ship to me, but were prevented from doing so by Amazon's system.
