Ghostrider
^^ I'm thinking that it must be a black and red striped one, or possibly have a mane.

Bubi
BRILLIANT, Paulb! The worried catowners can just feed the foxes with fish&chips on order to protect their cats.

trowie246
Does anyone know what the autopsy results were for the dead fox found? My friend was visiting some people who were incomers to Shetland, had bought a run-down croft which was in a bit of a state. Anyway on trying to get to the front door she was aware of a noise coming from an enclosure. On closer inspection she saw what she thought was a fox inside. Her boyfriend extracted the urine so much that she didn't mention it to many people. Shortly after there was a dead fox found although it was quite some distance away. This took place about 15 - 20 years ago?

da norseman
has eny one seen the book "Pictures from Shetlands Past" by fred irvine. Thares a story about "The Fox" heres the story.IN the year 1860 a danish vessel arrived at Scalloway from Iceland and her captain had on board an Arctic fox which he presented to the Danish Consul at lerwick. The fox was kept in a lodberry at the back of the Queens Hotel, but soon made his escape and, leaving the town behind him, made for the country beyond. He visited Gulberwick, Tingwall, Delting and Lunnasting, finally reaching Northmavine whare he was shot after having taken toll of sheep, lambs, hens and geese in all these parishes.
