paulb Posted October 14, 2008 Report Share Posted October 14, 2008 the battens would spread the load so should hold better. try getting a natural colour some wind break stand out for miles and must spoil the gardens looks. there is also a polytunnel material that would do a simular job to the freece but is very tough. the norwegians use it to shelter there fruit crops. if you have the space try planting a shelter belt. we have a lot of hardy fuchias that stand upto the wind well.
