Frankie
I've heard from a pretty good source that John Jamieson is being ''interviewed'' very soon, however a sticking point might be that he wants to continue as Delting manager as well. Marooned in Maywick
Great minds, Frankie!! I was just about to ask if anyone had heard any rumours/speculation on this very subject.
JAStewart
I actually made Shetland Football Club on FM08, although I made them all wonderkids!
penfold
There was a meeting last night where John Jamieson was given the opportunity to present his views on how he see's the way forward for the County select. He does intend to continue as Delting manager if he is successful in being awarded the Shetland County selct managers postition. At present he is the only applicant. Written applications from anyone interested in standing for the post of county select manager must be in the hands of the association secretary Mark Goodhand before 6.30pm on the 6th of November. I understand that a previous Shetland manager wanted to do a similar thing, but it was ruled at a Shetland FA meeting that he had to leave his club manager's post. Was that rule changed at last night's meeting ? penfold
There was no votes held on any subject at the meeting it was more a meeting conveined for those who bothered to turn up to gather information on the candidates before a vote at the AGM. They also asked the Ness Utd rep for more info the proposals the club submitted for inclusion to the agenda of the AGM. The matter regards the rule on doing a club managers job and the county select was discussed and it was stated that there was no rule written in any of the Association documents that an individual could not hold both positions. As to weather or not this is the case I wouldn't be able to comment on as I was'nt involved with the association when the vote and rule was said to have taken place. I believe it may have been in regards to Mr Derek Bradley doing the county select managers job and the Spurs FC job circa 1995? but again it was before my time. I will counsel though that if anyone has strong views on the matter then they have a week to put a case forward and attend the AGM on the 6th of November at Isleburgh community centre 6.30pm, as whilst this forum is a good tool to exchange views and ideas on Shetland Football it will be in the meeting room on the 6th of November that policy will be set by those who make the effort to turn up and have the conviction to voice their opinion and views on the matter. Frankie
How does the selection of the manager work ?Is it decided by a committee? Is it voted on by the clubs ? i.e. one vote per club.Or can everyone at the meeting vote ? penfold
If I remeber from the time when Niall Bristow stood against Derek Bradley then it was a vote with one club one vote and each committee member with a vote. That is only if there is more than one candadate for the job, at present there is only one applicant to our knowledge.
Frankie
So applications are accepted up to 6.30pm on 6th. November and the meeting starts at 6.30pm on 6th November. If there are several last day applications, how will the club representative voting at the meeting have time to find out the views of their club ? penfold
Not sure about the other clubs but theres going to be live video link to the SSC direct to the Ness United war room, and the Ness rep will be given instruction from the 7 wise men as to where to cast the club vote Given the fact that only five clubs bothered to turn up the other five will be in the postition of not having heard John Jamiesons presentation but only that of those who may rush to the association door with their application before the 6.30pm deadline. So I can't see any advantage gained by John Jamieson giving his presentation last night, if there were any other applicants then Im sure they would have been invited to the meeting to have their plans and vision for the county team picked over. tirvaluk
You would think that as John Jamieson looks like being the only candidate, he can choose to do what he wants as regards managing Delting and Shetland.Nobody else wanted the job when John Johnson took it. Frankie
I hear that John Johnson has had a rethink and is seriously considering filling in an application form.Apparently he reckons he's got a fair bit of backing. If that is true and it goes to a vote, would Delting as a club be allowed to vote as one of the candidates has stated that he wishes to continue being their manager as well ? sannicktonman
If John Jamieson can bring to the Shetland team the stability and organisation that Delting have had over the last umpteen years then all power to him.Surely there is more chance of Boyd playing for Scotland again than John Johnston returning as Shetland Manager!! Marshall
I for one don't see a problem with someone doing both Shetland and a club managers role at the same time.I have heard some people say they would not be happy from a Shetland point. Are Delting happy for there manager to do both? As for John Johnson if that rumour is correct he has had his chance and gave it up for various reasons.Even with backing looking from the outside he also had alot of critics. This could be intresting the ideal candidate in John Jamieson but some will be apposed to him doing both jobs.AgainstJohn Johnson the man that was in the hot seat and gave it up and now wants back in. It can't be true that John Johnson wants back I can't see it how strong is this rumour. I have heard from various sources about Bradley wanting a go at it but I can't see that happening so I have never said anything.
Frankie
It can't be true that John Johnson wants back I can't see it how strong is this rumour. It may not be true, but he told me on Friday that he was seriously considering filling in an application form. I have heard from various sources about Bradley wanting a go at it but I can't see that happening so I have never said anything. I hear Derrick Bradley won't be going for it. If success in football is based on results, I don't see that John Johnson was a failure. John Jamieson certainly won't find managing Shetland as easy as managing Delting over the past few years. Good luck to whoever takes it on.
